Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Northern Nigeria, Rev. Yakubu Pam, has said that isolated killings in southern part of Kaduna State has claimed more lives than the real crisis.

Rev. Pam stated this, in an interview, with Journalists,  in Jos, and called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, to take proactive steps towards curbing silence killing in the turbulent area.

According to Rev. Pam, “We are worried over the ongoing isolated killings in Southern Kaduna State which appears to have claimed more lives than the crisis, innocent persons are being attack and kill; the military and the police should take appropriate measures to stop the killings because it would affect the entire north.

“The crisis started with the killing of one person and graduated to five, ten, 20 and today hundred of lives have perished, yet with the heavy security presence, people are still being ambushed and killed in the bush.”

Rev. Pam expressed fear that the Southern Kaduna crisis would not only affect peace and unity in the north but the entire country and urged the Federal Government to dialogue with the warring groups and all faith organisation in the area to stop the menace.

He applauded the timely intervention of Acting President Yemi Osinbajo for deploying security to the affected areas and the recent peace parley with the warring groups.

Rev. Pam frown at the strategies deploy by Governor

Nasir el-Rufai in resolving the conflict and employ him to consult with former Governor, Ahmed Makarfi on how to arrest the protracted violence in Southern Kaduna.

“Governor el-Rufai should consult his former colleagues, particularly Sen. Ahmed Makarfi to know how he solved the problem during his administration, because the steps he has taken so far has not yielded desirous  result. Aslo, the Federal and Kaduna State government should take urgent steps in solving the problem, otherwise there would be no solution to what will likely happen in other states.”
