The Ogun State government has recorded yet another giant stride by giving Sholep Energy Ltd five hectares of land to install a 5-megawatt solar power plant for Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia.

On Tuesday December 12, 2017, Hon. Olusegun Bolanle Gbeleyi, S.A to the Governor on Oil and Gas and member, Special Committee for Ogun State Polytechnic Ipokia Project, led OPIC officials, Hon. Josu Amos, Chairman, Ipokia Local Government and Sholep Energy’s team to the polytechnic site to identify five hectares of land allocated for the solar power project.

Speaking shortly after receiving the land, the Managing Director/CEO of Sholep Energy, Engr. Olalekan Shogbesan, said: “We are ready to generate five megawatts for the Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia and its entire environ through solar system, with a guarantee of 10 years uninterrupted power.

‘To move toward a cleaner energy economy, we must improve our nation’s electrical grid, as well as construct the transmission infrastructure needed to connect renewable energy facilities to cities and regions with high power demand. The project will be ready by the first quarter of 2018.”
