From Noah Ebije, Kaduna

MEMBERS of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), also known as Shi’ites, yesterday, raised the alarm over the whereabouts of their leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky.

Zakzaky has been in the custody of the Department of State Security (DSS) since December 2015 when member clashed with the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna State, leading to the death of some members of the Islamic sect. Zakzaky and his wife were subsequently arrested.

However, a statement is- sued by the President, Media Forum of IMN, Ibrahim Musa, alleged that plans have been concluded by the powers-that-be to force- fully move Zakzaky to an unknown detention camp.

“We have reliably learnt of a sinister attempt to forcibly take Zakzaky to an unknown destination, claiming “orders from above.’ We vehemently reject any such attempt. This is coming up at a time when a federal High Court has ordered his release.

“Rather than comply with the judgement, the DSS is out with this sinister plot aimed at keeping him perpetually, and possibly, harm him.

“The Federal Government will be held respon- sible for any untoward thing that will happen to Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife in the custody of the DSS.

“We wish to alert the general public and the international community about this desperate at- tempt by government to scuttle the fundamental human rights of our lead- er, only affirmed by the courts a few days ago.”
