About 515 people from 11 local government areas of Katsina State would benefit from a free eye surgery sponsored by Sen. Abu Ibrahim (APC Katsina-South), as part of his constituency welfare package.

The Senator’s legislative aide, Alhaji Isiyaku Dabai, said  in Funtua, on Thursday, that the exercise would be conducted within the next two weeks at Funtua and Malumfashi General Hospitals.

Dabai said similar exercise was conducted in March this year, during which 330 patients received medicated glasses and 1,908 others were  treated for various eye illnesses.

According to him, the beneficiaries were from Funtua, Faskari, Kankara, Kafur, Dandume, Sabuwa, Malumfashi, Musawa, Bakori, Danja and Matazu local government areas.

Dabai said the beneficiaries also cut across all categories of people drawn from all the political wards in the area.

“Many of the beneficiaries could not afford such treatment or operations due to financial constraints.

“We engage qualified doctors for the exercise, who go round the 11 local government areas to consult with the patients and undertake surgeries on those requiring the service.”

He said that the lawmaker would introduce more welfare programmes for the constituents and enjoined beneficiaries of the eye care programme to adhere strictly to medical advice.

According to him, the Senator had also supported irrigation farmers with  water pumping machines, wells and farming inputs, in addition to providing skills training and scholarship. (NAN)
