SPORTS minister, Solomon Dalung and President of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick, will next week appear before the Senate Sports Committee to brief the lawmakers on the state of Nigerian sports and the Super Eagles.

Daily Sunsports gathered yesterday that the lawmakers are summoning the duo ostensibly to get a briefing as to why the Super Eagles failed to qualify for the AFCON 2017 Nations Cup as well as the nation’s build up to the Rio 2016 Olympics.

A competent source confirmed to Daily Sunsports that the minister would be briefing the Obinna Ogba led committee on the latest stage of preparations for Team Nigeria ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympic while Amaju would explain the circumstances that led to the elimination of the Super Eagles from the Gabon 2017 Nations Cup.

“The upper legislative body needs to be informed on what went wrong with the Eagles and how Nigeria is preparing for Rio 2016. She also would want to hear from the NFF buff what they would be doing to ensure that Nigeria qualifies for the Russia 2018 World Cup,” our source said.

We further gathered that the Clerk of the House has already dispatched a letter to both the minister and the NFF president inviting them to appear before the Sports Committee on April 12.
