The Senate Wednesday dropped the amendment of the Code of Conduct Bureau/Tribunal Act and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act following the blister of criticisms that have trailed the  plan.

It said it was shelving the amendment for further legislative business after a closed door session, which lasted almost three hours during which members also reiterated their support for the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, in his ongoing trial until proven guilty.

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who presided over plenary, also called off the summon issued to the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar.

Ekweremadu also set up a committee of two of each geopolitical zone to resolve the remaining issues dividing the Senate.
