Senate will, today, resume, after almost three-week midterm break. Senate embarked on its brief break on June 15, 2017.

Upon resumption, Senate will likely focus on three key issues, namely, the health status of President Muhammadu Buhari, who has been on a medical vacation in London, the United Kingdom since May 7, 2017; consideration of a $6 billion foreign loan, which the chamber earlier suspended and anti-graft bills which have passed Second Reading.

In May, Senate suspended consideration of the loan request, following strong opposition from members from the South East, who protested exclusion of region.

The issue was subsequently referred to Senator Shehu Sani-led committee on Foreign and Local Debts for further consideration. Daily Sun gathered that the committee has concluded work and will present its report soon.
