Security has been beefed up, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, as the Acting President, Prof.  Yemi Osinbajo resumes his fact-finding tour of the Niger Delta region, on Friday.

Armed soldiers, Policemen and Civil Defence personnel were visible on the streets and strategic parts of the state.

The visit is in continuation of the negotiation with stakeholders aimed restoring normalcy in the oil rich region.

Traffic has been diverted on roads leading to Bayelsa Government House, Ovom Area, where Osinbajo is expected to hold an interactive session with stakeholders on the ongoing peace process in the region.

Pedestrians were however allowed to pass through the road after screening by security operatives.

DSP Asinim Butswat, spokesman of the Police Command in Bayelsa, said  that the command had made adequately preparation to make the visit hitch-free.

Butswat warned that attendance was strictly on invitation, and warned miscreants and uninvited guests to keep off from venue of the interactive session.

“The command, therefore, advice all law abiding citizens to go about their lawful and legitimate businesses.

“The gathering of persons not invited to the programme at any point within the state will not be tolerated as adequate security measures have been put in place to curtail activities of miscreants,” Butswat said.

The Osinbajo had earlier visited the region to reaffirm the readiness and determination of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to find a permanent solution to the problems of the region. (NAN)
