A 23-year-old saleswoman, Adams Loveth, who allegedly stole her employer’s goods worth
N141,000, was on Monday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.

She was, however, released on bail in the sum of N140, 000 after she pleaded not guilty.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Layinka, who gave the ruling, said the accused should produce one surety in like sum, who
must be working in a reputable company in Lagos as part of the bail conditions.

In  addition, the surety should produce an evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

‎The accused, who lives at No. 8, Bello St., Iyana-Ipaja, a Lagos suburb, is facing a charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Donjor Perezi, had told the court that the accused with others now at large committed the offence on
May 29 at 8.00 a.m. at No. 3, Oshitelu St., Computer Village, Ikeja.

According to Perezi, Loveth stole goods worth N141,000, property of the complainant, Mr Emmanuel Nwaiwu.

He  alleged that the CCTV camera in the shop was disconnected by the accused before carrying out the crime.

“Loveth converted the money to personal use and all efforts to get her to refund it were unsuccessful.”

The offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused is liable to imprisonment for seven years on conviction
under the law.

The chief magistrate adjourned the case until August 8. (NAN)
