AN early warning has come the way of Nigeria, Cameroon and Algeria ahead of the race for the Russia 2018 World Cup ticket in Group B.

The warning is coming from former Zambia international Linos Chalwe who was part of the Zambian 2006 African Nations Cup team. Chalwe said yesterday that Nigeria, Cameroun and Algeria must not underestimate the Chipolopolo.

According to an interview with The Post website, Chalwe acknowledges the rough patch Zambia is going through but says they must not be ruled out of grabbing the ticket.

Zambia is set to meet Algeria, Nigeria and Cameroon in their quest to make their maiden World Cup appearance. “It’s a difficult moment we are going through but that does not mean we should be written off completely,” said Chalwe. “We still have that talent and all we need is to just get maximum points in our home games; don’t underrate Chipolopolo.

“We should just keep the faith and maintain the support for our team. As we undergo the rebuilding process, the boys will in turn gain exposure and who knows, they might just take us to the promised land.”

Meanwhile, it has been reported that the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) are seeking to replace Lwandamina with a foreign coach.

Former coach Dario Bennetti has indicated that he is keen to take over the team

On the other hand, Philippe Troussier as well as Patrice Beaumelle are also mentioned to be gunning for the position.
