Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, on Tuesday, in Ibadan, enjoined Muslims in the state to be godly and behave according to the tenets of Islam as they observe this year’s Ramadan fasting.

The governor gave the charge during the 6th anniversary of Ajumose Ramadan Gifts to women and orphanage facilitated by his wife, Florence, who distributed food items and cash to women and orphans in the state.

According to the governor, Islam teaches faithful to accommodate everyone  and contribute to the development of the society they live in, saying “there’s no better godliness than service to the humanity”.

Ajimobi said: “My wife is the most good hearted woman I have ever known and her initiative of distributing food items and cash to women, orphans and other less privileged in the state, is a first of its kind.

“She has visited 353 wards, 18 times in the state within six years to distribute food items and cash. At least, 250 people and about 50 in orphanages and widows have benefited from her gestures in each ward in the state. Invariably, 286,969 women in 33 local government in the state have been empowered through the office of my wife. And therefore, there’s no government has empowered women like this government.

“This among other reasons we were able to win second term in office and we have been immensely blessed as a result”, the governor said.

His wife, Florence said the gesture is to make provision for women and children, especially orphans during this ongoing Ramadan fasting.

She said it is also to commemorate 6 years in office of her husband as governor of the state and to show that the present government cares for well-being of the people in the state.

10 food items, 400 each which include: bags of rice, vegetable oil, sugar, tin milk, Semovita, wheat, beverage, Spaghetti, toilet role and cash were distributed to the beneficiaries by the Oyo State governor’s wife.
