The International Press Centre (IPC), Lagos-Nigeria has condemned the recent attack on Bayelsa State broadcast journalist Tonye Yemoleigha who was alleged to have been beaten to a pulp by an Air force officer attached to the Air Mobility Command, Yenagoa.

Director of IPC, Mr. Lanre Arogundade in a statement signed by Melody Akinjiyan described the act as unacceptable, as the journalist in question was battered based on spurious accusation of suspicious movement.

“Battering a journalist is totally inhumane and must be strongly condemned by all and sundry” Arogundade said.

He urged the Commandant of the Mobility Command of the Nigerian Air Force in Yenagoa to urgently investigate the incident and ensure that Yemoleigha gets justice.
