The National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in charge of Adamawa, Taraba and Borno, retired AVM Tijjani Mu’azu, has decried the poor turnout of eligible voters to collect their Permanent Voter Cards in parts of Adamawa.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the commission had displayed names of registered voters for claims and objections and the exercise commenced on Nov. 6 and will end on Nov. 12.
Tijjani made the observation during a supervision visit to some polling units in Yola Noth and Yola South local government areas on Friday.
He described the situation as “an issue of concern” .
“As far as INEC is concerned the turnout of voters for collection of their Permanent Voter Cards in some areas visited especially in Yola North is not encouraging,” he said.

The commissioner appealed to the registrants to come forward and collect their cards.
However, in Girei Local Government Area of the state, the commissioner expressed satisfaction over the appreciable turnout of voters for the exercise.
He said over 1000 voters had so far collected their voter cards in Girei since the commencement of the exercise two days ago.
Mr Kasim Gaidam, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Adamawa, said a total of 288,043 Permanent Voter Cards remained uncollected in the commission.
