The police in Ogun State have smashed two criminal syndicates, which specialised in kidnapping and killing people for rituals.
The syndicate involving Adebayo and Rasheed were nabbed in Abeokuta while the duo of Kolawole and Lateef were arrested at Owode-Egba in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.
Parading the suspects before journalists at the state headquarters of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS), Magbon, Abeokuta, at the weekend, Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, said a team of FSARS while on patrol on October 5, sighted and stopped Adebayo and Rasheed on a motorcycle carrying a suspicious bag.
He added that a search conducted on them led to the discovery of fresh and dry human parts in their bag. Iliyasu stated that when the suspects were interrogated, they confessed to be serial killers with their base in Totoro area of Abeokuta.
Speaking further, the CP explained that on the same day, FSARS operatives received information about activities of some suspected ritualists in Owode Egba area and a team of detectives was detailed to trail them. The efforts of the operatives paid off as Kolawole and Lateef were promptly arrested. Human skulls and bones were also recovered from their hideout.
Also, two robbery suspects, Micheal and Tope, who invaded the residence of one Aina Olufemi in Mowe area of the state on August 19, 2017, were paraded. According to the CP, the duo, putting on masks, inflicted several machete cuts on their victim and dispossessed him of money and other valuables. The suspects after robbing Aina, tied him and went away with his ATM card after forcing him to give them his PIN number.
The suspects, Iliyasu disclosed further, went to the bank same night to withdraw N100,000 from Aina’s account. He, however, said through diligent investigation and technical intelligence, the police was able to apprehend the suspects on October 5, 2017.
