Police nab suspected kidnappers, cattle rustlers in Zamfara State

NAN

The Police Command in Zamfara State said on Wednesday that it had arrested five suspected kidnappers and cattle rustlers and recovered 31 cows from them.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Muhammad Shehu disclosed this in a statement in Gusau.

Shehu said a police team arrested the three-man gang of suspected kidnappers while on patrol along Ruwan-Dawa village of Dansadau Emirate in Maru Local Government Area of the state.

Items recovered from the suspects included a locally-made revolver pistol, a riffle of sixteen-round capacity and a motorcycle, according to the spokesman.

He further said that two suspected cattle rustlers who on January 15 attacked Tungar Dundu village in Anka Local Government Area and stole 31 cows belonging to Alhaji Mohammad Dandare were also arrested.

“As the case was reported to the police, the anti-cattle rustling team of the Command swung into action and arrested two suspects in Dangurunfa, Bukkuyum Local Government Area.

“The 31 cows were recovered from the suspects and the suspects are assisting the police with information. They will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed,” Shehu said.
