The Kogi State Police Command has round up over 60 suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and murderers. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Wilson Inalegwu, told Daily Sun: “There is no hiding place for criminals. We need to urgently do something about kidnapping, armed robbery, especially along the highways to checkmate the criminals.
“We have developed new strategies in curtailing criminality. We will carry them out with vigor and utmost professionalism. We recorded tremendous successes when the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) operatives clamped down on 18 suspects on the highway.
“The operatives arrested three suspects who kidnapped one Aishatu and later released after collecting N500, 000. The suspects are identified as Adamu, Musa and Ide. Two guns with 20 empty cartridges of shell were recovered. Three other suspected kidnappers, Enemona, Solomon and Amedi were also arrested. One locally made gun, one military shirt and cap, a pair of military boots and shoes, as well as 150 wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered.
“SARS operatives in Ankpa Local Government Area while on patrol along Ikejeotukpa Brane Road ran into a  gang of suspected armed robbers who blocked the road. They robbed traders going to Orba Market in Enugu, Enugun State. Immediately they saw the policemen, and one of the suspects, Amedi was arrested. He confessed to belong to the gang of armed robbers while Enemona confessed to be an Indian hemp dealer.
“At Abaji, Ekele was arrested with a locally made pistol and a live cartridge. Abdullahi of Enegbede village in Arikpa Local Government was also arrested for being in possession of firearms. In Kabba, Jeremish was arrested and some arms and ammunition including a dane gun and seven pellets recovered from him.
“Police detectives arrested three suspects, Idris, Mohammed and Yahaya at Odo-Are. Also nabbed was Abubakar who allegedly participated in the assassination of the chairman of Miyeti Allah, Ibrahim Jalido. The suspects will soon charged to court.”
