Police,  on  Wednesday, arraigned  53  young men before Chief Majistarted Court  Chediya, Sabon Gari ,  over alleged  to  conduct  gay marriage  between  one Umar  Farook and  Sanusi  all residents of Sabon Gari local Government area of Kaduna State.

Mentioning the case , the Prosecutor , Sergeant, Manir Nasir, said the  53 accused persons were  youth between the age of  19 to 25 years  and were also charged  for criminal conspiracy , unlawful assembly belonging to  unlawful Society contrary to section 7 , 100 of the constitution of  the Federal Republic of Nigeria  and 97 of the CPC.

He  told the court that on April 15, at about 9:00p.m , a team of police men led by DSP  Mohammed lawal  Mashi,  arrested 53 young men at Daura Road in GRA  while attending  get together party organized to celebrate the marriage  of Males  couple one  Umar Farook and  Sanusi.

“ From the reliable information obtained,  all the young men were gathered  to celebrate  the  Samesex Marriege of the two couples  which is unlawful,’’  Nasir said.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty for the offence.

Counsel to the Accused persons, Yunusa Umar, requested the court to grant bail for the  53 accused persons in line with the section 36, sub section 6 of the  of the Federal Republic of  Nigeria as amended as well as section 341 of the CPC.

“My worship all the 53 accused persons have been detained for three days and most of them are students’’ he said.

He argued that their bail was necessary in order to obtained detail information and more evidences for defence assuring the court that the accused persons not would jump bail conditions or temper with investigations by the police.

. The prosecutor said that hence the accused persons have denied allegations there was need for  more  time to present its evidence against charges.

In his ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Auwal Musa Aliyu granted  the bail application  by the Counsel of the accused persons.

“The application is pertinent and relevant to the section 36 of the Constitution Federal Republic of Nigeria and section 341 of the CPC’.

“ Therefore, the court granted  bail to the 53 of the accused persons on  N500,000 each with sortie  who will present  ; International passport, Government  ID Card Bank statement , address,  of credence from Village Head, residence address, 2017  utilities bills, and  GSM  numbers.

The court adjourned to May 8, for hearing.
