This is good news for students of University of Ibadan and most especially members of the prestigious Sigma Club, owners of the popular Havana Carnival. The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has thrown its full weight behind the musical concert held annually in the premier institution.

This is coming after a partnership meeting between PMAN, G’ennie Leisure Incorporated, organiser of Havana Carnival, and Inspiro Productions, an outfit known for its mega entertainment brand, Lagos International Jazz Festival.

The PMAN president, Pretty Okafor and Inspiro’s Ayo Shadare have assured the Sigma Club and students of the premier university that this year’s Havana Carnival will be bigger, better and most successful.

At the meeting graced by G’ennie’s Project Manager, Soji Onojobi, Okafor said that everything would be done to ensure that Havana returns to its enviable height. “I featured in two editions of Havana Carnival with my late partner, Junior, and it was fun. The atmosphere was electrifying. Resurrecting Havana is a project for PMAN because this regime is all about ensuring that Nigerian artists perform in many quality gigs as possible. Havana is one of such gigs. We only need to bring it back, stabilise it and watch it grow. We have been able to resurrect PMAN as a body and this will not be an exception,” Okafor said.

Sigma deputy chief, Loyalist Atanda Toluwase was glad to hear about the partnership with PMAN. Hear him: “We have all been looking forward to a partnership like this. Working with a body like PMAN that has 15 million registered members is too good to be true. We are grateful to PMAN, Inspiro and G’ennie for achieving this milestone.”
