The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has opened an office dedicated to reconciling all aggrieved members into the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of the party.

This followed last week’s Supreme Court judgement which affirmed the caretaker committee as the authentic national leadership of the main opposition party.

Besides total reconciliation, the office is also to manage conflicts within the once fractured party, according to the Special Adviser to the PDP chairman on Reconciliation and Conflict Management, Mr. Ighoyota Amori.

Amori, a former senator who briefly represented Delta central before he was sacked by the Appeal Court, said the office is now open at the Wadata Plaza, Abuja, and fully functional in line with its mandate to reposition the party for total victory at all levels in 2019.

He maintained that as 2019 beckons on PDP, it behoves on all stakeholders to make it a reality, noting that “we have gone beyond the blame game. PDP is one family and we must forge ahead to collectively face the challenge that is before us.”

Amori said Nigerians were suffering under the present All Progressive Congress (APC)-led government of Muhammadu Buhari, stating that the PDP “must come together to take back power and remove Nigerians from untold hardship.

“The people are wailing and waiting for PDP as the party with the solution to the nations economic crisis. It is a wake up call to us and the only way to achieve it is to put our past behind us and come together as one united force. The task ahead is more supreme than the tin matters that beset us as a party.”

The senator lauded the verdict of the nation’s apex court saying “no doubt the restoration of peace to PDP rekindled not just the hope of members of the PDP alone, but entire Nigerians on the once prejudice judicial system.

“The courage of the panel of justices that delivered the epoch making judgment is a big signal to the ruling APC that the nation’s judicial system would no longer be under their beck and call.”

He expressed the confidence that despite the grand plot to see that the PDP goes into extinction, the party was rejuvenated by the judgment which confirmed the authentic national leadership of the party on the Makarfi caretaker committee.

“The nationwide excitement and jubilation by party members indeed attested to the acceptance of the Makarfi leadership that is committed to revamping the party to reclaim the presidency come 2019,” he added.

While urging all party stakeholders to sheath their swords and embrace the new found peace, Amori equally appealed to potential aspirants not to destroy the PDP with unguarded statements either written or spoken.
