A group in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), under the auspice of Professional Support Group, on Tuesday, blamed  the factional Chairman of the party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff of working with charlatans to destroy the party.

Its chairman of the Northern chapter, Suleiman Aliyu Ambursa, stated this in Birnin-Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital, during a stakeholders meeting of the group comprising representatives of Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

He lamented that some leaders of the party ignored the antics of Sheriff, who is working hard to destroy the party.

He likened Sheriff as a cancer to the party who has eaten deeply into some part of the party’s structure, now he wants to destroy the whole body.

“The best and only option to those who genuinely want to save the party’s future is to come together and stop Sheriff from achieving his sinister motives.

“When you are treating a prostrate cancer, you do it with all vigor and not allow one part of your body to be vulnerable to the other. This man doesn’t care about image or prestige what matters to him is to destroy what he did not build,” he said.

He expressed concern that the elders of the party had remained silent, while a new comer was bent on destroying what they laboured to build.

According to him,  as bona-fide members of the PDP,   the group would not fold its arms and allow some selfish individuals destroy the party.

Ambursa said the group was solidly behind the Senator Ahmed Makarfi leadership, describing it as the authentic one endorsed constitutionally by the party’s National Convention in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

He said the group, which was formed in 2002 comprised doctors, lawyers, teachers among others, with the aim of finding a lasting solution to the lingering crisis affecting the PDP.
