IN continuation of efforts to resolve the leadership tussle rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), governors on its platform have convened a meeting for today in Abuja.

Daily Sun gathered that leadership of the PDP Board of Trustees, the former Borno State governor, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff whose national working committee had since been dissolved and the caretaker committee led by former Kaduna State governor, Ahmed Makarfi are expected to attend the meeting.

Director General of PDP Governors’ Forum, Osaro Onaiwu confimed that the meeting will hold at the Ondo State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro.

Onaiwu said the agenda of the meeting was to resolve the lingering leadership crisis and also take a position on the forthcoming Edo State gubernatorial election.

“The leaders of the party, the Governors’ Forum, National Assembly Caucus, BoT, Ahmed Makarfi and Senator Ali Modu Sheriff groups will meet tomorrow (today) to address issues in the party.

“We want to resolve the crisis once and for all. We want to find lasting solution to the party. All parties involved are invited for this meeting. The forthcoming Edo election will also be addressed,” he said.

The party has been embroiled in leadership crisis, as the Makarfi-led interim caretaker committee, a creation of the party national convention held in Port Harcourt and Sheriff, whose leadership was dissolved at the convention lay claim to the soul of the hitherto ruling party.

Justice Hussein Buba of the Federal High Court in Lagos in a declaratory order had proclaimed the national working committee, led by Sheriff as the authentic leadership while a similar court of coordinate jurisdiction, in Port Harcourt restrained him from parading himself as national chairman.
