THE Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) are at each other’s throat over the pending judgment to be delivered by the Bayelsa Elections Petitions Tribunal.

The PDP had claimed that APC members in the state were already jubilating over reports that a national leader of the party had assured the governorship candidate of the party, Chief Timipre Sylva of a favourable ruling in the bid to take over Bayelsa State.

In a reaction to the jubilant mood in the Sylva’s camp, the Secretary of the PDP in the state, Keku Godspower, had noted that the faith of the Bayelsa PDP is in God and the judiciary.

However in a swift reaction, Sylva media adviser, Doifie Buokoribo, in a statement entitled, “Dickson should allow Bayelsa Tribunal Do its Job” stated that the structured campaign launched to brow beat the Elections Tribunal as it prepares to deliver ruling, “bears all the hallmarks of the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Governor Henry Seriake Dickson’s frequently used bully-boy tactics. It has involved a series of lies deliberately told to impugn the integrity of the tribunal in obvious fear of an unfavourable ruling.”

According to him, Chief Sylva, who is the petitioner in the case sees this attempt by Dickson to second-guess the decision of the tribunal and, perhaps, try to intimidate it, as immoral and despicable. He said Sylva is appealing to Dickson and his men to allow the tribunal to do its job noting that, “Sylva’s expectation of justice from the election tribunal is hinged on his belief that the honourable judges would be guided by the letter and spirit of the law.
