The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has pulled its weight

behind the call for introduction of state police in the country,

describing it as the only measure to prevent crime in the grassroots.

A leader of the national body of the organisation, Mr. John Okedoye, who spoke in an

interview with Daily Sun said introduction of state police will reduce

the rate of crime in the country.

He said the organisation has made its position known to the Federal

Government, stressing that “the earlier the Federal Government

introduces state police, the better for the security situation of

Nigeria.”

Okedoye who decried the rate of crime in the country, said the PCRC

will soon organise a national security conference to address the

problem of insecurity in the country.

The PCRC boss stated that “State police is the only solution to

insecurity in this country. We need Police officers who understand the

language, culture and tradition of the people to serve and not those

that are strange to the environment where they work.”
