PASTOR Delight Arinze Okorie of the Watered Ground Ministry in Atta Nnenasa in Njaba Council Area of Imo State, is now cooling his heels in the cell of the state Criminal Investigation Department of the Imo State Police Command for attempted murder of a female member of his church and for stealing her SUV.

The suspect who confessed to the crime, however, blamed his action on the devil.

The suspect, it was learnt, had earlier told to his victim, one Miss Chioma Oleka that she was being  roubled by marine spirit which he said must be cast out for her to fulfill her destiny.

The pastor, it was learnt, allegedly lured Miss Oleka to a river in the guise of exorcising the marine spirit.

But unknown to the lady, the suspect had actually perfected plans to eliminate her and flee with her SUV.

According to the Imo State Police Command spokesperson, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, while the purported deliverance session was going on, the pastor allegedly pushed Miss Oleka into the river with the intention of drowning her.

The suspect was said to have gone into the car and brought out a machete when it was glaring that the victim would survive and allegedly inflicted severe injuries on her.

The PPRO further revealed that when the lady passed out, Okorie zoomed off in her car with registration number: Rivers KPR 243 HF. He disclosed that policemen attached to Nwangele division on routine patrol took the victim to the hospital, where she was later revived.

Enewerem said the pastor was subsequently nabbed at Orlu in the state with the lady’s car.

He revealed that the suspect would be charged to court soon for attempted murder and robbery.

According to him, the suspect has confessed to the crime which he reportedly blamed on the devil.
