Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports that the results of its wards, local government and state congresses were faulted by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

It described the report as misleading.

When contacted, the Deputy National Chairman, North, Senator Lawal Shuaib, who is saddled with the responsibility of reconciling aggrieved parties said his job has nothing to do with harmonisation of the Oyo executive list, having been ratified by the NWC.
“The NWC on Friday looked at the reports of the congress committee and the appeal committee and ratified what was presented. My job in Oyo state is only to reconcile aggrieved members,” he said.

A statement by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Dr. Azeez Olatunde, yesterday, said at no time did the NWC order the sharing of offices contested and won by the state APC members, with any splinter group within the party.
The publicity secretary said it would amount to the NWC contradicting itself if it called for harmonisation of party offices, having earlier said that congresses not supervised by its committee were illegal.

He insisted that the state chapter of the party conducted transparent congresses from ward to state levels, and they were witnessed and ratified by congress committees deployed from the national secretariat, as well as officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Olatunde said: “The APC NWC approved the congresses conducted by the mainstream Oyo APC, which is being erroneously referred to as Ajimobi faction. For the avoidance of doubt, the congresses in Oyo passed all the tests of legality and constitutionality…”
