Over 30 people are feared dead and several others wounded in a twin bomb blast at the Madagali main market in Adamawa state. The bomb is said to have gone off at about 11 am on Friday.
The bomb blast is suspected to have been carried out by the insurgent group, Boko Haram.
The Chairman of Madagali local goverent, Yusuf Muhammed confirmed that the attack happened at about 11 am Friday. He said, “The attacks have become more frequent in the past week.” Yusuf said, ” last week at Wakachakawa town a man was killed in his farm while another man was abducted by Boko Haram. This Wednesday two women were abducted by Boko Haram at Sukur dorowa. It took the intervention of local vigilantes to kill one of the members of the Boko Haram.”
So far the details concerning the attack have remained sketchy as the military and the police are still working to find the perpetrators. Military have confirmed that wounded are still receiving treatment at Magali and Michika main hospitals.
The market is the biggest market in the local government where clothes and major commercial activities of the local government.
The military have recently launched offensive into the Sambisa forest and Madagali local government is one of the local governments sharing a border with the hide out of the insurgent group.
