All is now set for the official and maiden presidential inauguration ceremony of Oko Sports Club, Oko in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State coming up next month.

Briefing journalists, on Monday, on the coming event, President-elect of the elite club, Dr. Oliver Chux Ezeobi, said activities had been lined up for the inauguration ceremony at Chalk Valley Hotel, Oko. Ezeobi was flanked by members of his 10-man executive.

He said during the event prestigious awards would be given to prominent Nigerians like the former Vice President of Nigeria, Dr. Alex Ekwueme, one-time president of Old Anambra State Lawn Tennis Club, Chief Ben Ezeibe,  Chief James Ezeifeoma, among many others from various walks of life “considering their immense contributions to societal development, love for sports and humanity.”

“We are coming up as a reputable sports club in the entire South East. This club was formed in the 1980s when it was known as Chalk Valley Recreation Club. Our core objective is to create awareness for the need for physical fitness. And since inception we have not ceased to engage in our Saturday morning jugging which traverses Oko, Nanka and Ekwuluobia communities,” Dr Ezeobi explained.

He said the ceremony would feature pre-event lawn tennis inter club tournament which would attract counterpart sports clubs from other parts of the South East as well as cultural display to be handled by captain of the club, Mr Ogai Joseph.

He named royal fathers expected to grace the occasion to include HRH, Professor Laz Ekwueme, Igwe Ijikala II of Oko, HRH, Igwe Felix Ebelendu, Igwe Nnanyelugo of Aguluezechukwu, Igwe (Engr) Emmanuel Chukwukadibia, Ezejiofor of Ekwuluobia.
