Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has suspended the state Chairman, Mr. Bayo Dayo and its Secretary, Mr. Semiu Sodipo over alleged financial mismanagement.

A nine-member committee, led by the Organising Secretary, Dr. Folashade Filani, suspended the executive members.

Addressing a press conference in Abeokuta, Dr. Filani passed a vote of no confidence in the leadership of the Dayo-led executive. The aggrieved state executive members also unanimously elected Chief Ibukunolu Ojosipe and Muritala Adegoke as interim chairman and secretary respectively

Filani said the suspension of the chairman and his secretary was in accordance with Section 21 (5) of the party’s constitution, adding that the duo would remain suspended pending the time their case would be determined by the appropriate organ of the party

The money allegedly misappropriated, Filani said, included sales of state expression of interest forms and returns from national expression of interest forms, adding that cheques and other official records were kept to their chests Dayo-led executive was also alleged of indiscriminate imposition of candidates and exclusion of party officials from the ongoing PDP congresses.  Reacting, Mr. Dayo said the action of the nine officers was illegal and in clear breach of the party’s constitution.

Dayo described the aggrieved officers as those who had defected to either the All Progressives Congress (APC) or Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of the last general elections.
