The Ogun House of Assembly on Friday charged Local Government Chairmen in the state to be creative to improve on their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).

Mr Tunde Sanusi, the Chairman, Ogun Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, gave the charge at the appraisal of the 2018 budget performance of Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state.

In line with of its oversight function, the committee visited Ijebu East LGA, Ogun Waterside LGA, Ijebu East Central LCDA and Ogun Waterside East LCDA.

The lawmaker urged the council areas to develop a blueprint that would assist them in improving the standard of living of the people and also boost their revenue.

He advised the council areas to invest more on infrastructure projects, to create the enabling environment for the enhancement of socio-economic development of their council areas.

Sanusi lauded the councils for their ingenuity in the promotion of agricultural practices, revenue generation initiatives and grading of rural roads, among others.

“You can partner with local and private investors, investors in large scale farming for export purposes, which will help your IGR and improve the lives of the people,” he said.

Mr Olawale Alausa, a member of the committee, urged the council chairmen to spread capital projects to every nook and cranny of their councils.
