Mrs. Christiana Obiano, matriarch of the Obiano family and mother of Anambra State Governor Chief Willie Obiano has died.
Aged 90, she died on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi after battling a protracted illness associated with old age.
A two-paragraph statement by the Anambra state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Ogbuefi Tony Nnacheta announcing her demise said, “With a profound heart in gratitude to God for a fulfilled life, His Excellency the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano announces the passing on of his dear mother, the matriarch of the Obiano family, Mrs. Christiana Obiano, aged 90 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, today Friday 2nd June.  “The family will make further announcements.”  Born into the famous Azodo Manafa family of Eziagulu village in Aguleri, Anambra East local government of the state, late Mrs. Obiano was married to late Philip Onuora Obiano and their marriage was blessed with four children; Willie, Cyril, Queen and Evaristus.
She was a devout Christian of the Catholic faith and a successful business woman.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has condoled Governor Obiano on the demise of his mother.
