People of Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, has assured Governor Willie Obiano of 99 per cent in his re-election bid ahead of the November 18 governorship polls in the state.

Obiano’s wife, Ebele, hails from Oyi Local Government Area of the state.

The promise was made when the national coordinator of Stakeholders for Willie Obiano 2nd Tenure, Chief Ekene Enefe, who visited Governor Obiano’s wife’s community, Ogbunike, for a town hall meeting.

Chief Enefe had told the audience that the Governor had lived up to his campaign promises in many parts of Anambra State including Ogbunike and was still doing more in community development projects through making available funding to 179 communities in the State. He said Obiano was qualified to continue.

He noted that in as much as the governor had done some road projects and provided some infrastructure in Ogbunike he would not concentrate on that community alone, lest he be accused of giving too much attention to his in-laws.

“The governor cannot face all your problems at the same time, so that he will not be accused of facing his in-laws. Support him for his second tenure so that he can, thereafter, finish other needs of Ogbunike. And you know our daughter will not sleep until Ogbunike becomes a small London.

“People may accuse the governor of developing the Anambra North where he comes from, but that is what all other past Governors did while they considered other areas.

Supporters of the group in the community regretted that many governors of the state in the past never turned their eyes to Ogbunike, leaving the community in total neglect until nature smiled on them with their daughter as wife of the governor.

They thanked  Governor Obiano for what he has so far done for their community, but drew his attention to Oyeolisa Ogbunike and some other roads, saying that they were the only community on the old road that had no link with the expressway and asked for the state government’s intervention.

The community appealed to Governor Obiano to equip and deploy doctors and other medical personnel to a community health centre built by the Federal Government in the area so that it would become functional.

Coordinator of the support group in Ogbunike, Chief Samuel Tochukwu Obiako, who sponsored the event along with Chief Enefe, said the community and other parts of the state knew what they went through in terms of security challenges before Obiano took over the mantle of leadership in Anambra State.

“We are privileged that our daughter is the First Lady in Anambra State. That is why we have shown our massive support. Many roads have been constructed in Ogbunike but our people are not wrong to ask for more,” Chief Obiako noted.

Another speaker, Comrade Godwin Ibekwe, former labour leader in Anambra said for the Governor to have been consistent in paying workers’ salaries in the State should be enough reason to give him another opportunity to continue.
