The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife branch, has stopped the remittance of check-off dues to its national body as a result of the fall-out of the crisis rocking the union.

The congress of the union, which met on May 17, passed the resolution to stop the payment of the check-off dues with effect from May 2017.

The congress had mandated the caretaker committee to write a letter to the acting Vice Chancellor for the stoppage of deduction of the branch check-off dues.

It berated the national President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, for his greed, noting ‘’at time when there is a crisis in the branch, the president is only interested in our money and not how to resolve the crisis. Hence, he unilaterally wrote to banks to violate their mandate which is a clear violation of our rights as contributors,’’.
