Plateau United maintained its strong hold at the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League table following their impressive 1-1 away draw against Kano Pillars at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, on Sunday.

According to the NPFL, Ibeh Johnson gave Plateau United a surprise 1-0 lead when he scored in the 17th minute.

But Pillars were back on level terms in the 52nd minute through Hamza Abba Tiya, as both teams shared the spoils.

The draw meant Plateau remain in the top spot on 59 points, three above MFM who are second. Pillars are seventh on 48 points.

At the Agege Stadium, MFM failed to take advantage of Plateau’s draw against Kano Pillars as they were held to a 0-0 draw against Enyimba.

Despite the draw, MFM hold on to second position on 56 points, while Enyimba are fourth on 51 points.

In Ijebu Ode, Akwa United’s title hopes suffered a setback as they were pipped 1-0 by Sunshine Stars. The only goal of the game was scored by Ajibola Otegbeye from the penalty spot in the 16th minute.
