Commodity index for the week of November 15 – 22 as released by Novus Agro Nigeria indicates that Dawanau market in Kano State, saw a lift in the prices of some the selected commodities for this week, like Groundnut edible(100kg) which can be purchased for #24,000 this week as against #20,800 selling price last week; sorghum red sold for #11,500 against last week’s #10,967 price soya beans rose to #13,000 unlike last week’s drop to #12,600. Only rice imported (50KG) dropped to #12,600 less than last week’s #13,133 price and Drum beans olotu (100kg) for #24,000 this week sold still less than last week #25,267. Maize white (100kg) for this week averagely sold for #8000 less with a difference of #133 from last week’s price. Prices changed, probably reflecting its nature as the largest market grain market in Kano, what else do we expect?
Bodija market in Oyo State had pretty little price adjustment to the barest minimum that can be ignored. White Maize (100kg) per bag selling averagely for #10000 against last week’s #9,766; Groundnut edible (100kg) per bag remained as #28,400, sorghum red sold for #18,800 less than last week’s #19000 but; soya beans sold for same price as last week for #17,500; likewise Drum beans olotu (100kg) per bag for #38,000, meanwhile, Rice imported (50kg) per bag sold for #13,100 differing less by #200.
Gombe main market in Gombe state had market prices as fair as possible, but most prices fell. Rice imported (50kg) sold for #15,933 a #133 less than last week’s price; Soya beans (100kg) remained as it formerly was for #15,000; White maize was sold for #10,000 a bit higher by #1000 and sorghum red fell from a former #15,000 to #14,500 this week; likewise Drum beans olotu (100kg) per bag fell to 30,000 lower than last week’s price by #5000.
Maikarfi main market in Kaduna State: Groundnut edible (100kg) average sale for this ºweek rose to #27,750 slightly higher than last week’s’ by #750; White Maize (95kg) for #8,000 unchanged from last week’s; similarly, sorghum red and Soya beans of #95kg and 100kg respectively remained as last week’s but the latter less by #500 from what was traded last week.
