Nnewi Community in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State has elected new town union executives to pilot the affairs of the community for the next four years.

The new officers elected by the 200 electoral delegates selected from the four quarters of the commercial city at the Nnewi Youth League Hall, on Sunday, has Chief Ugochukwu Udemezue as President-General; while Mr. Fabian Obi is the Vice Chairman.

Other executive members include: Barr. Obinna Ubah, Secretary General; Mr. Ndudi Obi, Treasurer; Hon. Ike-Edoji Onyedikachukwu, Publicity Secretary; Mr. Moses Anayo, Welfare Officer; Mr. Nathaniel Enemchukwu, Provost III; and Mr. Ejidike Christopher, Provost II; among other officers.

The election which took the form of Open Ballot System was witnessed by representatives of the Anambra State government, notable industrialists from Nnewi community, stakeholders and leaders of thought from Nnewi, representatives of Igwe Kenneth Orizu of Nnewi, security organisations, among other groups.

In his acceptance speech after the election, Chief Udemezue, who was the immediate past Vice- Chairman of Nzukora Nnewi, promised to use his experience to move the town union forward.

“I was the immediate past Vice-Chairman of Nzukora Nnewi. I have garnered great deal of experience over the years; so, I will use my experience to move this body to the next level.

“I will make sure that I use my office to unite different interests in our community; and at the same time, foster peace and development,” he said.

Udemezue also solicited for the cooperation of other members of the executive as well as the prayers of the community to enable him accomplish the goals of the new executive.
