The family of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, has demanded the unconditional release of their son and others who are being detained at Kuje prison, Abuja, and other jail facilities across the country.

They condemned the killing and injury of unarmed members of the IPOB, threatening that unless the government and security agents release the detainees and stop the killing of Biafrans, and allow Biafra its independent, more calamities would befall the country.

According to a statement signed by brother to the detained IPOB leader, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, on behalf of the family: “There will be no remedy unless the government of Nigeria and her security agents stop killing Biafrans and allow Biafra to become an independent state…”

In a pointed address former heads of states, the statement read: “Let us ask the former Head  of State Gen. Yakubu Gowon, Olusegun Obasanjo and the president Muhamadu Buhari why they took it upon themselves as a duty to detain and kill unarmed Biafrans since 1960 to date.”

The statement went on to add that “the government should release my brother Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other members of IPOB unconditionally or God Almighty ‘Chukwu Okike Abiama’ will send more dangerous plagues on Nigeria,” he warned.
