The latest FIFA ranking released Thursday which saw Nigeria drop to 50th position has left many soccer fans levied with anger but the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF says it is not bothered.

Reacting to the ranking last night, NFF director of Communication, Ademola Olajire noted that the football body in Nigeria is satisfied with the performance of the Super Eagles despite the latest ranking.

“The latest ranking by FIFA which has left Nigeria in 50th position is nothing Nigerians should worry about. Everyone is aware of the achievements of the Super Eagles. Qualifying for the World Cup before our last game against Algeria (1-1) was a great feat and defeating Argentina 4-2 is milestones that deserves commendation.

“The NFF does not want to worry itself with the ranking because the Super Eagles have shown the world that they are among the best in Africa and capable of springing surprises at the World Cup.”

Despite defeating Argentina 4-2 in an international friendly match at the Krasnodar Stadium, the Super Eagles performance does not seem to have caught the eyes of FIFA as the team is placed 50th in the latest rankings.

According to the ranking, the top five teams in Africa are; Senegal, Tunisia, Egypt, Congo DR and Morrocco, which makes Nigeria the only qualified team for the Russia 2018 not in the top five of Africa.

The next FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on 21 December 2017.
