The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says they have decided to file an appeal against the officiating officials for their decision not to award two legitimate goals to Nigeria in their 1-1 draw against South Africa.

Ahmed Musa was twice judged to be offside after Nigeria has put the ball in the back of the net but replays showed he wasn’t offside on both occasions much to the frustrations of soccer loving Nigerians as the second goal could have won the game for Nigeria.

Referee Bakary Papa Gassama did tender an apology to Musa after the game through a member of the NFF but the soccer body of Nigeria have decided to lodge a former complain to FIFA to forestall a repeat in the future.

“I can confirm to you that we lodged our appeal last week, less than 24 hours after the game. We did it not to ridicule the officials but to pass a message across for future games. The result notwithstanding we shouldn’t be seen as a nation that condone poor officiating,” a board member told Owngoalnigeria.com.
