Why Buhari can’t be president again—Abdulrahman, ACF chieftain

39

From ABDULGAFAR ALABELEWE, Kaduna

Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman is former vice president, Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA), ex-Economic, Political and Security Adviser to General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua; Adviser on Politics and Economy to the former SGF, Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed (Wazirin Jama’a); and member, National Executive Committee, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF).

In this interview, he declared that President Goodluck Jonathan had failed the country. He also gave reasons General Muhammadu Buhari failed to win the 2007 and 2011 presidential elections. Excerpts:

Buhari cannot rule Nigeria again

You witnessed what happened during the Buhari regime and that was why Buhari was removed. People who had contracts with government and voluntarily executed the contracts were accused of corruption. We know all the black and white of award of contracts in most of the countries in Africa and even overseas.

What happened was not the business of Buhari to send the people to jail. I remember, Mallam Ishaku Rabiu in Kano was jailed too. Well, we wouldn’t call it jail; they were incarcerated unnecessarily without term, indefinitely. Some of them died from the complications, arising from such an action. Some, who had money, just paid to free themselves, not because the law said so, they paid because they didn’t want to remain there. Hypertension, stroke, diabetes, blood pressure, so many things killed most of those who remained there.

Buhari can be a good leader but he will never govern Nigeria again, for the singular act of incarceration of politicians without reason or cause; for the singular act of causing the reason of ultimate death or early death of most of the people he incarcerated. That is the reason he may never be president again.

The families of those people, who died have decided to connect with God permanently, seeking God’s mercies on their departed souls. You think those families will not make sure they spend all their earnings to make sure Buhari never becomes President of Nigeria again? It is their right to pray, we cannot stop them. But everybody should understand the issue of the law, its applications with the intention of bringing about good governance in Nigeria.

Accepted, Buhari was a dictator but since he was a dictator, he had no business analysing political processes and direction. That is why he too, under the political process, suffered. The reason Buhari has never succeeded is that people only use him as a launch pad to win elections into the National Assembly and other positions. Buhari was a die-hard dictator; he is the one, who convicted the drug carriers and the newspaper men, who exposed the truth.

Between Obasanjo and Buhari

There was a major difference between Buhari and Obasanjo. Buhari has respect for person; he could be rude, very rude but you cannot compare that with crudeness of Obasanjo. Obasanjo’s own is what we call divide and rule. A man, who never has regret for his mistakes. A man that can subject even himself to inconvenience in order to displease people. Buhari will never inconvenient himself, he will never.

Yet, he (Buhari) cannot be President of Nigeria again. Yea! It takes more than being a good person to be President of Nigeria, considering other factors, like human, ethnicity, religion, etc. Even though Buhari had this Decree 9 and incarcerated journalists, those were military days. We are not comparing Obasanjo’s military regime and Buhari’s military regime. We are comparing Buhari as a man and a leader and Obasanjo as somebody, who came to being a Head of State and later a president. It is a question of attitude and we need behaviour, responsibility and attitude in governance. Buhari has them. So, Obasanjo should retire to being a statesman. People like Buhari should be organisers, they should advise the next generation. The next generation is those there now.

In 2011 when I fought for Jonathan to become the President of Nigeria, I fought the Northern establishment. I had quarrel with the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF); I fought the former Heads of State because I wanted a regime change. I wanted those old people, who have been part of Nigeria’s leadership in the last 50 years to step down. The result of the last 50 years has not helped us. They were the ones who kicked the civilians away by their coups. Then the civilians and the soldiers who have been in the leadership platform in the last 50 years have not changed Nigeria, it is worst.

What are we witnessing today? Mindless public act of vandalism. Whether you call it Niger-Delta youth restiveness or you call it Boko Haram, whatever you call it, it is pushing us backward. You bring in foreign contractors to come and build your land and you kill them mindlessly, do you want us to go back to riding horses and donkeys? You want us to go back to farming with our hoes, not tractors again?

The Jonathan Presidency

He has a wrong team and a wrong group, whether as executive cabinet or as economic management team. From the week he set up his economic management team, I told Jonathan in the newspapers that these are people, who have conflict of interest in Nigeria’s economy and they will wreck the economy.

On the issue of excess crude account, if you have enough money, use it to develop. The result of the development will improve the economy. You should be able to get all elements of economy correctly, exportation and so many things will happen, industries will pick up, then we can start having a very strong exchange rate and interest rate.

We can never go beyond where we are standing with the kind of interest rate the Central Bank is operating.

The late Professor Sam Aluko did better than these people a hundred times better. These people are not good enough for our economy. They do not know anything other than the book they have read and how it is written in the textbook, both of them. They cannot help the Nigerian economy, because it is formula plug-in that they know. These people are people of letters, most of them have divided interests in Nigerian economy. It is not about books from Harvard, it is about common sense, responsibilities, what we should be doing.

Jonathan should ask himself, from the day he became acting president and these people came on board, what has happened? Has the economy changed? Has anything drastic happened? Nothing! Everybody is milking the cash cow. We need to sit down very well in Nigeria and ask ourselves, what is the way forward? That is where the PDP has failed. PDP is supposed to present economic blueprint for the country, as a party that produced the president. They ought to be injecting these things into the president’s working paper. Do they do it? The answer is no! They don’t even have a manifesto, if they do, they don’t respect it.

Jonathan beyond 2015

The people, who are against Jonathan are so much in his government that they will stop him from getting the correct people to lead him to the Promised Land. The government of today has enough people in the government to dissuade Jonathan from listening to the right people who can lead him to the Promised Land, because they have divided interests. Most of them are helping the , who want to come in to even start their government. Something is wrong.

The Yoruba say, Kokoro to n j’efo, inu efo lo ngbe, meaning, “the insect that is devouring the vegetable garden lives inside it.” The problems of Nigeria and Jonathan himself are inside Aso Rock, they are the kokoro. Jonathan’s problem is in Aso Rock.

Jonathan can use his performance between now and 2015 to convince Nigerians on his status. But I will tell you, even within the PDP, there are people, who want to make sure that Jonathan is disgraced out of office. Didn’t they do that to Yar’Adua?

Presidential pardon for former governor Dipreye Alamieyeseigha of Bayelsa State and others

Some people condemned Jonathan’s action but I will hasten to say, they are all wrong. The word pardon shows that the person has already been convicted and he has paid the price for the offences he was found to have committed. So Bulama, the former managing director of the Bank of the North and Alamieyeseigha have paid the price because they were convicted. They served their terms and nobody said we should ask for a pound of flesh.

Even the Bible and the Qur’an have cautioned us on the elements of pound of flesh. If Jonathan wakes up one day and announces pardon for them, we can quarrel about the procedure, not the pardon itself, because they served their terms. I will restrict the rest of my comments to the real thing, what is right and what is wrong. The issue of pardon has to do with prerogative of mercy, human kindness after the punishment. The punishment is there, if they had spent only one day there, they have already fallen from grace to grass and that is enough.

  1. Thank you for confirming what many of us already concluded about President Jonathan. Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman, thank you for your sagacity! In order to move this great nation forward, someone must take over from the current corrupt political demagogue. The new regime must do everything humanly possible to tackle the state of insecurity and armed robbers mess in the country. We cannot survive as a nation under fear of armed robbers, kidnappers, and threat of the Boko Harams.

  2. WHICH OF THE NATION ?…IS THIS ONE THAT HAVE GONE VERY LONGTIME AGO…WE ARE TALKING OF DIVIDING HOW TO DIVIDING THIS SO CALL ONE NIGERIA

  3. Well written by true son of the soil, i hav 4 long seen reasons why buhari cn nt rule again to som3 xtend i stand to assume that he is been used by othr parties in their games of do or die politics affairz.
MR president, your problems ar in ASO ROCK wake up nd challeng them or history will nevr forgv3. Mr president has got frm nw to 2015 to prove hs worthyness of pr3sidential ticket of africa’s largest party

  4. @ Dr J. Hope, you are too far from the truth this Hon Abdulrahaman spent his precious time hear to analysed concerning all what that has happened to the nation. You are quick to react only against GEJ, but all the wonderful words of knowledge this man highlighted therein against Buhari and OBJ was relegated to the background by your person. What sort of Dr are you? A gynecologist or a native Dr ?

    • Anthony I Efobi on

Dr. J Hope is mad bcos of GEJ. He may commit suicide due to hatred he had on GEJ. He’s a failure as a NATIVE DOCTOR J. HOPE and now he want to pick on GEJ like his people instead of trying to know why he/they are no doing well as a person/people. Dr. J. Hope keep waiting for GEJ to perform miracle and also put food in ur mouth.

NIGERIA, JUST AS IT WAS MEANT TO BE.
    _________________________________

Bet me, Nigeria is a fool forever. All the anomally had gone to normal culture and language, which every Nigerian speak and understand. Should this be a way of normal life, NO.
Nothing can better Nigeria from what am seeing. Except revolution (just to better Nig. 20%), Sov Nat Conference (if geniune and intensive, then 30% betterment from where we are) or division (50 – 60%, if supported by 3 to 4 powerful country in UN security council, otherwise, it can lead to war).
After division, individual entities as divided can either go back to square one (3 – 5% as today) or improve like India, Malasia, UAE Dubia, China etc even improve upto where Portugal, Bulgeria etc is now within 4 to 5 after division. But u can’t rule out a boundry conflicts here and there.
No matter who became the President of Nigeria, the same old story. The system is three bad. The policies in place are rooted on sandy soil. Now, 98% of Nigerians are corrupt, tribalistic, injustice players, religious fanatics, criminals. How delicate the Nigerian revolution shall be is that it cannot be well carried out and assimulated. It must wrongly go in tribal and religious line and the purpose shall not be achieved. Even after the long loud called revolution, the tribe or religion that suffered most shall see it injustice against them and not as a revelution done on National interest. Nigeria and wahala has wedded and lived over 99 years now since 1914 amalgation of different tribes by cunny, by force, by richer Britain poor amalgamated Nigeria. Since then, the Britain, Europe as a whole are taking advantages of amalgamated Nigeria weaknesses and short-falls, turning into their country/continent advantage and progress. They can always go to war for economic purpose, esp for oil and gas as major target. Now, America has joined in recently. The plant confusion, hatred and do/don’t do to weaker countries. They have interest in every country more than the citizens of those country. But in all, they are matured in mind, in spirit and in worldly things.
Come to Nigeria, if the Govt call for Sov. National Conference as supposed, the same soiled, criminally corrupt politicians MUST hijack it completely and defeat the purpose.
I really and sincerely want to tell Nigeria that GEJ is not Nigerian problem at all. Nigeria proplem is Nigerian structures, composition, and NIGERIANS. If people from SW, NE and NW harmered as shouted from thy kingdom come, a pure liberal Nigeria mind who see with his good eyes and mirrow-microscope Nigeria with truthful unbias heart COULD BE ABLE TO KNOW THAT A PRESIDENT CANNOT DO WELL with this kind of Nigerian culture, orientation, injustice, tribalism, inequality, criminal minded polititians and corrupt infested hearts/hands/heads of hundreds of millions of citizens, religious fanatics, poor foreign policies + implimentation, lawlessness, above the laws and poverty.
If Nigeria is not divided, the worst still await Nigeria. If Nigeria is divided, caution awaits the divided entities, otherwise after divition, BACK TO SQUARE ONE, then there we/they go.
    NO WAY NIGERIA as Nigeria.

  8. Bartholomeow Owo, Bernard Ogedengbe and Lawal Ojulope were murdered by Buhari and that did it for Icheoku. Icheoku calls it MURDER because no sane person tries, convicts and executes a person for an offence which was not a death penalty offence when it was committed retroactively; and for this the Bonga-fish Buhari is finished politically in Nigeria, period. He is not a democrat and he is not humane.

  9. @owerri don’t mind that fool all he understand there is that GEJ must not rule again ….then my questions to that stupid fake Dr.J.Hope is who will take over from GEJ? because for another northerner the answer is NOOOOOO…..so even if GEJ step down today northerners can never rule this country again period.

  10. ALHAJI MOHAMMED ABDULRAHAMAN, YOU HAVE JUST SPOKEN THE TRUTH AND ALLAH WILL GIUDE YOU AGAINST THOSE WHO DO MOT WANT THE TRUTH TO BE SAID. IF ALL OUR SO CALLED LEADERS IN THE NORTH CAN BE SAYING THE FACT AS THEY ARE WE IN THE NORTH WON’T HAVE LOST THE RSPECT OF DAN FODIOS, BALEWAS, SAUDANAS AND CO. IT IS HIGH TIME WE SHOW THE COUNTRY WE ARE TRULLY IN SUPPORT OF JUST AND PROGRESS OF ALL.

  11. one Nigeria is dead long time ago……………….. as for you Buhari at your age of 71yrs today you still want to rule again why…………………..at this age of urs can you take to the promise land nooooooooooooooooooo

  12. Alh., you have made some vital points that must applauded. One of the greatest mistakes of this administration is to allow individuals with vested interest in some sectors of the economy to be part of his economic team. For instance, cement is sold for N1700 per bag, I can actually bring in this same cement and sell it for less than N1400. But the cabals will not let it be. Funny enough, these cabals don’t even manufacture, they simply import and badged them. Unfortunately it seems to me that Mr president does not know the kind of powers his office has. He should sit up and safe Nigeria from total collapse. God bless Nigeria

  13. Alhaji Dan-azumi Gana on

Alhaji Abdulrahman, are you God ? if God has destined Gen. Buhari to rule this country as a president again, NONE of his (Buhari) enemy can stop him. Shame shall continue to be Buhari’s enemy portion when he eventually become the president of the federal Republic of Nigeria.

  14. I disagree de resson AlHAJI give why Gen Buhari can not rule dat is because he execute some currpt persons but because he is fighting currption in a genune way those dat see dat if he enter there dey won’t see free money to steal & dose dat already steal will vomit it. pple like OBJ,Babangida,Atiku & oders

  15. This is a profound truth I have hear from an northerner in recent time. I wish the President read this interview and review his Ministers, political appointees, economic team and modus operandi. Nigerian love mediocrity, but the fact that God is in charge, Nigeria and Nigerians will sort themselves out. Again, Buhari is unelectable according to El-Rufai, he will continue to be a launching pad for politicians who are taking advantage of him as a spring board to get to the national assembly and other political offices. I suggest he retired if he is a man of his word, because he told Nigerians that, the last election was the last time he is going to contest election. to me Buhari is not a leader but a dictator, else he would have groom a young man from the north for Presidency, but his greed and ego will not allow him. I laugh when people said he is not corrupt, Babangida, Olushola Saraki etc know why he struck to take over the government of Shehu Shagari, the records are there. I know one day Nigerians will know the truth even though almost everybody is singing the same song. when Babangida said he will expose him, he know the truth about Buhari’s coup afterward he was an insider.

  16. I don’t think there will be election in 2015, but if there will be, Buhari should go and rest. Jonathan should also go and rest, he has failed us. Corruption is too much.
If there will be Nigeria beyond 2015, let us try someone else. This govt has failed.

  17. Patrick Agbobu on

All criminals and all those who took part in coups are criminals and must not the part of a decent or democratic society. These ex miltary who took parts in coups are worst than the convicted criminals and dhould have their day and deserve their days in the court of Law. These shamelee ex military persons have the termrity and shameless audacity to topple democratically elected goverments. These enemies of Nigeria the exmilitary persons then hoisted on Nigeria willy nilly, the most corrupt, inept, planless, gleuless government in the history of mankind. These exmilitary persons and their cronnies, looted and stole from with reckless abandon. They now dominate the political space in all parties with their larkis, cronnies, collaborators and yes people. These disgraceful ex military persons, should be locked up for the remaining of their wretched lives and their ranks, self styled promotions ans appiontment, should be taken away from them with immediate effect. Nigerians must stand up very tall and send the right message, that criminality will not be rewarded

  18. THE PROBLEM WITH NIGERIA IS AUTHORITY STEALING AND CAPITAL FLIGHT CAUSED BY CORRUPTION AND INDISCIPLINE RESULTING IN THE ABJECT POVERTY OF THE PEOPLE WHICH BREEDS UNEMPLOYMENT,BOKO HARAM, KIDNAPPING, INSECURITY, DARKNESS, DISEASE AND OTHER SOCIAL MENACE. NIGERIA NEEDS A LEADER WHO CAN FIX THE PROBLEM. LET ANYONE WHO HAS BETTER CREDENTIALS THAN BUHARI STEP FORWARD. THE PEOPLE ARE WISER AND ALL THE ELITE-HATRED OF THE PERSON OF BUHARI CANNOT STOP THE LOVE AND YEARNING OF THE PEOPLE FOR HIM.

  19. Nice one from Alhaji Moh’d Abdulrahman. About 30 – 40 years ago when we in the fifties were in secondary school, the military leaders then used to say that “you are the leaders of tomorrow”, the tomorrow has come now yet they are still the same old folks there or agitating to be there. Please all of you ex-leaders, indeed anyone over 70 should go back to their respective villages, become kingmakers which they are, and enjoy their retirements. Look at how Mandella is highly respected and regarded all over the world. For me, we do not necessarily need radical/violent revolution in Nigeria, what we need is positive, productive and pragmantic governance. Relocate Federal Minitries and parastatals from Abuja to one in (best-fit) each of the 36 states and lets see what will happen to employment and development accross the Country. Is there any sense in producing thousands of university graduates annually without creating jobs? Nigeria is a blessed country with all resources at our disposal, except good governance. If basic infrastructues, especially power and good roads are put in place among other things, we will see general progress. Individually, Nigerians is moving, but collectively, sorry. To me, perhaps for 2015, Fashola and Aliyu Babangida can move the country forward. Our leaders can work this out. Both of them are young and resultful. God bless Nigeria. Julius from London

    • Anthony I Efobi on

Julius go and seat down with ur Fashola and Aliyu Babangida. They are not doing well as State Governors. We cannot vote them bcos they are young. After all, they are not younger and better than Peter Obi, Goodwill Akpabio, Rotimi Amaechi etc.
So, shut up with there ur age.

  20. I wonder why Buhari still parades himself as if he is important to Nigerians.Let the truth be told that the vast majority of Nigerians hate Buhari for his high-handedness and arrogance. Buhari is finished politically because he has no business seeking election under a democratic setting. He aborted a democratically elected government of Alhaji Shehu Shagari and today he wants to become Nigeria’s President. His motive for this office is purely for personal vendetta. BUHARI IS A BIG FOOL and a sponsor of BOKO HARAM.

  21. HIS excellency, the President…..has d right MIND 4 Nigeria…but lacks d ability to deliver it….sir GOD said i should tell u,the day you look away from men(so called men of GOD and special advicers) and recognise that am the one that called you…..tinz will work out for you….GOD said i should tell you ,remmber how you started……..am the one that called you look up to me am ready to speak to you clearly as i spoke to moses…..am nothing , am just a vessel…..i just relayed the message i received …..he that has an ear let him hearhear…..

  22. This Man Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman is a man that has good interest in the Country called Nigeria, he is not like those that wanted to swallow the Country once and forall. He has spoken and I believe everybody have seen the truth and where it lies. Despite where he came from this are the kind of people we need in this Country. Be it Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo what we need is the truth.

  23. Boney London on

You got it wrong Sir. The only reason Buhari will not be president again is the known fact that the past presidents and everyone who had held any top political post are scared to death that he will probe them.

  24. The result of the last 50 years has not helped us….how is the current results of current dispensation better than the past. In the past killings were mainly due to the effects of people like Lawrence Aninih…And now Boko Haram which GEJ knows and dine with some of them. Niger Delta militants and bombers which GEJ keeps on exonerating as they strikes or kills. Alas!! you fought to bring GEJ and what we are currently witnessing is worst than incarceration without terms. God shall judge and it is better for you to ask for forgiveness from us because you fought to install a government that is insensitive to plights of it people.

    • Yes…London, you said the right thing. Since the past leaders all have looked but could not find skeleton in his cupboard while they harbors in their cupboards the fears of probe, and revealing out the skeletons for us to see is palpable…these revelations they don’t want and they could do anything that he does not win elections. But if God makes it so, no one shall stop….Like the family of the incarcerated are praying for his failure we are praying for his successes. Can the family tell us why their guardians or parents were incarcerated during “War Against Indiscipline” regime? what they did is still peculiar; the hoarding of goods, amassing wealth from government coffers as in the case with Alamaisegha and Maina recently and Umaru Dikko in the past. Is it the the family of these people that are praying against our progress? they will prefer we live under the bondage of poverty while they loots and enjoy. In fact this man that has granted this interview has not done good to us for fighting to instal GEJ. We lives in the bad lights perhaps they dine and chop together in Aso Rock. But, God know better and better solution to this problem will soon come.

      • Boney London on

Love him or hate him, Buhari is the only Nigerian politician today who has the balls to step on toes by fighting corruption which has eating deep into the fabrics of Nigeria.

    What Qur’an Teaches:
Quran tells us to: “not to make friends with Jews and Christians” (5:51), fight them “until they pay the Jizya (a penalty tax for the non-Muslims living under Islamic rules) with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued” ( 9:29). “kill the disbelievers wherever we find them” (2:191), “murder them and treat them harshly” (9:123), “fight and slay the Pagans, seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem” ( 9:5).
Quran says that all those who disbelieve in Islam go to hell (5:10), they are najis (filthy, untouchable, impure) (9:28), and orders us to fight the unbelievers until no other religion except Islam is left (2:193). It prohibits a Muslim to befriend a non-believer even if that non-believer is the father or the brother of that Muslim (9:23), (3:28).
It says that the “non-believers will go to hell and will drink boiling water” (14:17). It asks the Muslims to “slay or crucify or cut the hands and feet of the unbelievers, that they be expelled from the land with disgrace and that they shall have great punishment in the world hereafter” (5:34). And tells us that “for them (the unbelievers) garments of fire shall be cut and there shall be poured over their heads boiling water whereby whatever is in their bowels and skin shall be dissolved and they will be punished with hooked iron rods” (22:19-22) and that they not only will have “disgrace in this life, on the Day of Judgment He shall make them taste the Penalty of burning (Fire)” (22:9).
Quran says that “those who invoke a god other than Allah not only should meet punishment in this world but the Penalty on the Day of Judgment will be doubled to them, and they will dwell therein in ignominy” (25:68). For those who “believe not in Allah and His Messenger, He has prepared, for those who reject Allah, a Blazing Fire!” (48:13).
As for him who does not believe in Islam the Prophet says that after he dies it will be announced with a “stern command”: “Seize ye him, and bind ye him, And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! So no friend hath he here this Day. Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, Which none do eat but those in sin.” (69:30-37)
The holy Prophet prescribes fighting for us and tells us that “it is good for us even if we dislike it” (2:216). Then he advises us to “strike off the heads of the disbelievers”; and after making a “wide slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives” (47:4). Our God has promised to “instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers” and has ordered us to “smite above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them” (8:12). and “to strike terror into (the hearts of the enemies” (8:60).
He has made the Jihad mandatory and warns us that “Unless we go forth, (for Jihad) He will punish us with a grievous penalty, and put others in our place” (9:39). Allah speaks to our Holy Prophet and says “O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the Hypocrites, and be stern against them. Their abode is Hell,- an evil refuge indeed” (9:73).
He promises us that in the fight for His cause whether we slay or are slain we return to the garden of Paradise (9:111). In Paradise he will “wed us with Houris (celestial virgins) pure beautiful ones” (56:54), and unite us with large-eyed beautiful ones while we recline on our thrones set in lines (56:20). There we are promised to eat and drink pleasantly for what we did (56:19). And have sex with “boys like hidden pearls” (56:24) and “youth never altering in age like scattered pearls” (76:19)
As you see, Allah has promised all sorts of rewards, gluttony and unlimited sex to Muslim men who kill the unbelievers in his name, not forgetting even those with pedophilic inclinations. We will be admitted to Paradise where we shall find “goodly things, beautiful ones, pure ones confined to the pavilions that man has not touched them before nor jinni” (56:67-71).
In the West we enjoy freedom of belief but we are not supposed to give such freedom to anyone else because it is written “If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good) (3:85).
As for women, the book of Allah says that they are inferior to men and their husbands have the right to scourge them if they are found disobedient (4:34). It advises men to take a green branch and beat their wives, because a green branch is more flexible and hurts more. (38:44). It teaches that women will go to hell if they are disobedient to their husbands (66:10). It maintains that men have an advantage over the women (2:228). It not only denies the women’s equal rights, it decrees that their witness is not admissible in the courts of law (2:282). This means that a woman who is raped cannot accuse her rapist unless she can produce a male witness. Our Holy Prophet allows us to marry up to four wives and he licensed us to sleep with our slave maids and as many ‘captive’ women as we may have (4:3) even if those women are already married. He himself did just that.
[A word of warning for those who may find their version of Quran is translated differently from those appearing in this article: Almost all the translators of Quran have deliberately tried to soften the harsh verses of Quran. Yusufali especially goes out of his way to twists the meaning of the words and hide the harshness of Quran. For example he translates the verse (38:44) that says “take a green branch and beat your wife” as “take a little green grass and strike therewith”. Or when he translates the verse (4:34) that says “beat your wife” he cannot help it but to add the word (lightly) in parenthesis.]
Dear fellow Muslim: Is this the Islam you believe in? Is this your Most Merciful, Most Compassionate Allah whom you worship daily? Could God incite us to kill other peoples? Please understand that there is no terrorist gene but there could be a terrorist mindset. That mindset finds its most fertile ground in the tenets of Islam. Denying it and presenting Islam as a religion of peace similar to Buddhism to the lay public is suppression of truth. The history of Islam between 7th and 14th century is riddled with violence, fratricide and wars of aggression, starting right from the death of the Prophet and during the so-called ‘pure’ or orthodox caliphate. And Muhammad himself hoisted the standard of killing, looting, massacres and bloodshed. How can we deny the entire history? The behavior of our Holy Prophet as recorded in authentic Islamic sources is quite questionable from a modern viewpoint. The Prophet was a charismatic man but he had few virtues. Imitating him in all aspects of life (following Sunnah) is firstly impossible and secondly dangerous in the 21st century. Why are we so helplessly in denial on this simple issue?

  26. I WILL KEEP DRUMMING IT UNTIL I AM HEARD LOUD AND CLEAR AND MY OPINION APPLIED TO SAVE NIGERIA. NIGERIA HAS BEEN OPERATING ON A FAULTY POLITICAL/ECONOMIC STRUCTURE. THIS STRUCTURE FOR SPURIOUS REASONS HAD BEEN ADOPTED AND LONG USED FOR UNDUE ADVANTAGE OF ONE SECTION OF THE COUNTRY AGAINST THE OTHER. MANY POLITICIANS AND THIEVES HAD CASHED IN ON THIS TO PERPETRATE ECONOMIC CRIMES WHICH IS THE ENDEMIC CORRUPTION WE HAVE TODAY IN NIGERIA. THE LEVEL OF CORRUPTION WE SEE TODAY IN THIS COUNTRY WAS AND IS STILL BEING EXACERBATED BY THIS FAULTY STRUCTURE. EVEN IF YOU BRING AN ANGEL TODAY TO RULE NIGERIA, MANY PEOPLE WILL STILL TAKE COVER UNDER THE BAD STRUCTURE TO ENGAGE IN CORRUPT PRACTICES AND STILL GET AWAY WITH IT. THE ULTIMATE LOSER IN ALL THESE IS THE MAJORITY CITIZENS OF NIGERIA. THIS IS THE REASON WE SHOULD ALL DEMAND THAT THE POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC STRUCTURE BE CHANGED. IT IS NOT THE QUESTION OF WHO BECOMES THE PRESIDENT OR WHICH PART OF THE COUNTRY PRODUCES THE PRESIDENT. FOR NOW, THIS IS IMMATERIAL BECAUSE IT CANNOT BRING ABOUT THE PROSPEROUS COUNTRY WE ARE CRAVING. ALL ATTENTION SHOULD GO TO THE PRESENT EFFORT TO AMEND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA WHICH IS BEING HEADED BY SENATOR EKWERENMADU. THIS OPPORTUNITY IS WHERE WE CAN SAVE OR LOSE NIGERIA. LET US STOP BEATING ABOUT THE BUSH AND BE WISE—TAKING HOLD OF THIS RARE LAST OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE NIGERIA A PLACE WE WILL ALL BE HAPPY AND FLOURISH LIKE PALM TREES. FOR THE RESTRUCTURING, LET THERE BE DEVOLUTION OF POWERS TO THE REGIONAL FEDERATING UNITS UNDER THE FOUNDATION OF JUSTICE, EQUITY AND FAIR-PLAY. THE IMMUNITY CLAUSES SHOULD BE ABOLISHED COMPLETELY, SO THAT WHEN ANY POLITICAL OFFICE HOLDER COMMITS POLITICAL,ECONOMIC OR FINANCIAL CRIME, HE OR SHE WILL BE IMMEDIATELY SANCTIONED AND RELIEVED OF HIS POST. THE SYSTEM SHOULD BE SUCH THAT THOSE INVESTED WITH THE POWER TO CHECK THOSE WHO HAVE MALFUNCTIONED ECONOMICALLY/FINANCIALLY SHOULD EQUALLY BE CHECKED BY ANOTHER BODY AND AT THE END, THE WHOLE PROCESS OF CHECKS AND APPREHENSION BE MADE PUBLIC FOR THOROUGH SCRUTINY; WITH THE CULPRITS PUNISHED ADEQUATELY AFTER SPEEDY TRIAL IN THE COURT OF LAW. THE CONSTITUTION SHOULD BE STRUCTURED IN SUCH A WAY THAT ALL THE ACTIVITIES AND FUNCTIONS OF THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD BE OPEN AND CLEAR TO EVEN THE BARROW PUSHER IN THE MARKET AND BE EXTREMELY DIFFICULT FOR ANY POLITICIAN OR LEADER TO MANIPULATE. IN THIS WAY, POLITICS WILL BE MADE UNATTRACTIVE TO PEOPLE WHOSE EYES ARE ON MONEY, BUT ATTRACTIVE TO PEOPLE WHO WANT TO CHAMPION THE DEVELOPMENT AND PROGRESS OF HUMAN BEINGS. IN THIS WAY, NIGERIANS WILL BE ENCOURAGED TO DEVELOP THEIR TALENTS AND APPLY THEIR ACQUIRED SKILL TO ATTAIN GREAT HEIGHTS IN LIFE. THE SO CALLED NUMERICAL STRENGTH OF THE NORTH SHOULD COME AND BE USEFUL HERE—USING IT TO ENTRENCH THE POPULAR ( MAJORITY NIGERIANS’ ) WISH OF THE PEOPLE TO SECURE A BETTER FUTURE FOR ALL NIGERIANS. GOD HAS PLACED OUR DESTINY IN OUR HANDS. IF WE DO NOT DO THE RIGHT THING NOW, WE WILL LOSE NIGERIA. GO AND WRITE WHAT I HAVE SAID ON THE WALL FOR REFERENCE! THANKS!

  27. FOOLISH TALK BY ABDULRAHMAN,GOD WILL SURPRISE COME 2015,GENERAL M BUHARI WILL NOT ONLY BE NIGERIA PRESIDENT BUT A GOOD ONE FOR THAT MATTER,
