Why Mikel thrilled at AFCON 2013

…I asked for his 150% commitment – Keshi

Stephen Keshi, Super Eagles’ Head Coach, has revealed why Chelsea’s player, John Mikel Obi, put up superlative showing at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa. Keshi said he actually demanded Mikel’s 150% commitment before extending invitation to him for the Nations Cup outing.

“ I had to talk with Mikel before inviting him for the Nations Cup. I asked for his best because that is the only way to redeem his image in the national team.

I told him Nigerians didn’t like him and he promised to honour my invitation, so I’m not surprised he played well,” he said On how his boys dismissed Cote d’Ivoire in the quarter final, he said “I had to build their confidence and make them play with determination.

“I told my players to go into the field and enjoy themselves. I told them to beat Cote d’Ivoire to their game and they didn’t disappoint afterall.

Felix must be Osaze’s cousin. He lives in the village and doesn’t know what football is all about. Omerua, Efe, Onazi, Mbah and Obobana impressed me so well. Nigeria is land of good and plenty. God must be from Nigeria. Long live my people. Proudly Nigeria!
