Respected Super Falcons’ former handler, Ismaila Mabo, has described the resignation of Kadiri Ikhana as a good riddance to bad rubbish. Ikhana, who earned a whopping N3 million per monthly, threw in the towel after recording the worst ever outing in the history of the African Women Championship.
Mabo, speaking with Daily Sunsports, slammed the Edo State-born coach, insisting that Ikhana needed no soothsayer to warn him of the consequences of his failure in Equatorial Guinea because the wrath of angry Nigerians will be unleashed on him. “Was Ikhana expecting a rousing welcome for this scandalous humiliation? Mabo queried. He has no choice but to slink out of the door and I expect the rest of his crew to also toe the line and leave the place.
“This has never happened in the history of women football in Africa that Nigeria should fail in such a disgraceful way in the AWC. “It is unbearable that Falcons sunk this low in a championship that we have held sway for years,” Mabo lamented. In April this year, Ikhana was handed a contract that stipulated that he wins the African Women Championship title in Equatorial Giunea, 2014 in Namibia, the next All African Games and also qualify the team for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janerio, Brazil.
He was given the option to resign after the loss to South Africa in the AWC semi final rather than face the ignominy of being sacked by an embarrassed NFF.
