Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets were simply super yesterday as they ruthlessly defeated their sub-regional neighbours, the Black Starlets of Ghana 6–1 in the CAF Under-17 Championship currently going on in Morocco.
The Nigerian kids made good their promise not to underrate any team in the competition, as they humiliated the Ghanaians starting from the first 45 minutes of the game, when they scored three unreplied goals.
They played the first half as if their lives depended on it, as they disorganised the aggressive Ghanaians with tactical display and fine football artistry. Isaac Success opened the flood gate of goals in the 9th minute when he stylishly displaced Ghana’s keeper before Bernard Bulbs increased the tally in the 25th minute. Ghana failed to utilise some of her chances before Success bounced back to make it goal number three for Nigeria few minutes later before the end of the first half.
On resumption, it was the Eaglets all the way, as they dominated play. They kept the Ghanaians at bay and pumped in two more goals to record five goals before the Ghanaians pulled one back. Kelechi Iheanacho later added another goal for Nigeria towards the end of the game, thus making the final score 6–1 against Ghana.
