Lavish wedding for VP Sambo’s daughters

There was a whole lot of hype surrounding the wedding of Huwaila and Aisha, the lovely daughters of Vice President Namadi Sambo. And the Mothers’ Night, the first ceremony of the two-city wedding, lived up to the billing. The event, which took place at the International Conference Center (ICC), Abuja on Saturday December 1, witnessed one of the largest turnouts in recent times.

This is despite the fact that it was strictly by invitation and water tight security was put in place. The African Hall, which is the largest venue at the ICC and its main foyer were both fully occupied by the guests. Majority of invitees who came for the Mothers’ Night ceremony arrived with the hope of learning a thing or two about hosting a classy wedding. They did. The event was really presidential, thanks to its 5-star trappings. Newton and David beautifully decorated the hall. Doxa Digital’s boss, Dayo Benjamins-Laniyi compered the magnificent event while comedian I Go Dye thrilled guests with jokes.

Although, at some point, the comedian’s wise cracks didn’t go down well with a section of the crowd, he got those who understood his sense of humour laughing. Former First Lady, Hajia Maryam Abacha and wife of the Benue State governor, Yemisi Suswam led a long list of dignitaries to the event. While the celebrities had a good time with the performances and the entertainment brought their way, the regular folks are still talking about the goody-bags given out by families of the couples.

It is not everyday that hundreds of wedding guests go home with laptops and LCD TVs alongside other nice souvenirs. In fact, the expensive gifts distributed at the ICC have made the wedding Nikkai which holds today in Kaduna a must-attend for many people. Though, some folks in the Fountain of Knowledge State have heard about how strict security men were in Abuja, they have vowed to get invitations for the wedding proper. Aisha is wedding Mukhtar while her sister, Hauwila, will be joined with Awalu.

They are giving out LCD and Laptop as sovenir at a wedding while plenty people have no food on their table. Its a colossal waste of our money, greediness and mere show of affluence. May God punish them all. Amen.
