Ojukwu’s sons tear Will apart

•It’s fake –Emeka (Jr)
•I’m richer than my father –Sylvester

Barely 48 hours after reading the long-awaited Will left by the late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, his disinherited first son, Sylvester, has said he is worth more than the assets mentioned in his father’s Will. But Sylvester, who said he is worth over N3 billion, doubted the authenticity of the Will, describing it as a concoction.

“Even if it is true, I am worth over N3 billion, which is more than the assets mentioned in my father’s Will,” he said. Speaking with Sunday Sun on phone, he expressed surprise over the content of the Will, saying he did not believe it was indeed drafted by his father. His words: “I am surprised, and I doubt that the Will was drafted by my father. It was a concoction.

The Will seemed to have been drafted in a hurry by people desperate to achieve an aim. “But, if it is the true Will of my father, I have no problem with that. After all, this is not the first time a first son is disinherited from his father’s Will.” He said being disinherited from one’s father’s Will does not stop one from being his child. “If it is truly that of my father, being disinherited from his Will does not stop me from being Ojukwu’s first son.”

The legal practitioner said that through a DNA test a person could lose his paternity if it is proved that he is not the rightful child of his father. It would be recalled that Sylvester had dragged the Ojukwu family to court for preventing him from performing ‘dust to dust’ rites at his father’s burial. In the controversial Will, the late Ikemba apportioned the lion’s share of his estate to his wife, Bianca, and appointed her, the late Igwe of Oraukwu, Emeka Ojukwu and James Chukwuneme as trustees and executors of the documents.

The Will stated that only eight listed people should be regarded as Ojukwu’s children. They include Teni Hamman, Emeka Ojukwu, Mmegha, Okigbo, Ebele, Chineme, Afam and Nwachukwu. However, none of Ojukwu’s children was present when the Will was read at the Enugu High Court on Friday. Family members were urged to apply for copies of the Will as well as the codicil, which was prepared by Barrister Emeka Onyemelukwe on December 16, 2009.

Am not happy d way ikemba drafted his WILL in favour of Bianca alone. Ds is not good, its disturbing

    • Johnnie December 2, 2012 at 10:46 pm

This was Ojukwu’s will, not yours. When you draft yours, you can put in whatever you like.

I too would have loved to be mentioned in his will. We seem to have an opinion on every thing is this life, even when it is absolutely none of our damn business

      • Godfrey December 3, 2012 at 2:30 am

Dele,I’m disappointed with your remark.if,going by what Sylvester said that the Will is a true reflection of Ojukwu’s desires, how would you feel if your own father treated you as such?Granted,Ojukwu had the right to disown his child(though, it’s the height of impunity to be done)yet, the person he’s claimed to have been disowned took very much after him,his carbon copy.In my judgement,Ojukwu is not an infallible mortal and therefore has got it wrong all together in this matter. It’s characteristic of the Africans under the guise of hero worship blur their sense of reasoning. While,I respected and loved Ojukwu for who he was,I cannot be cajoled into making a biased judgement. What goes around, comes around. If you claim what Ojukwu did is right you are implicitly courting trouble for yourself and if it happens you should not bate an eye.Thank you.

        • Chekwube December 3, 2012 at 2:45 pm

@Godfrey-Don’t you think that Ojukwu (RIP) as a human being may have strong reason to do that?

  2. Dele Odugbemi December 2, 2012 at 2:23 am

Sir nwabufo go and write your own will the way you want it and leave Ojukwu family alone.

  4. Nowayo December 2, 2012 at 3:53 am

    Hmm, wonders not yet ended.

  5. Ejike December 2, 2012 at 4:08 am

That’s IKEMBA Nnewi’s WILL not anybody
‘s else will. People should stop sheding crocodile tears
over an already concluded issue that has nothing to do with them.

  6. Chima December 2, 2012 at 4:13 am

Why do we easily insult person for expressing his opinion? Sir Nwabufo just expressed himself and if his view is not inline with yours, you either ignore it or try harder to make hin reason with you and not to insult him. Please be guided, the whole world is reading this and may see us as uncivilized. I think the issue here is private to the Ojukwu Family, they are learned enough to sort their problems out.

    • Johny December 2, 2012 at 11:07 am

Chima, you have a high level sense of reasoning. Here is not a forum for insults.Ojukwu’s will is a private issue.Period!

  7. Austin Udowelle December 2, 2012 at 4:40 am

Nigeria is filled to the brim with unruly people. You can never be proud of them in any aspect of life. Just imagine the insults and attacks simply because a person expresses his innocent opinion. I dont blame them its frustration and unemployment that make them vent their anger on everybody and everything around. But its not the solution.

  8. Stine Chykee December 2, 2012 at 4:49 am

Sir Nwabufo Okoye wat is wrong with you and your type who always meddling and poke nose on people’s affairs. If your not happy with the way late Odumegwu Ojukwu aportion lion share to Iyom Bianca Ojukwu then wen you write your own Will try to include even your entire town in your own Will and let Ojukwu family sort their own problams by themselves and please let Iyom Bianca Ojukwu enjoy the fruit of her labour becouse i was privilaged enough to witness wen Iyom Bianca was carrying late Ojukwu wenever they want to fly through Akanuibiam Int’l Airport Enugu while his other sons were nowhere to be found

    • Chijioke December 2, 2012 at 6:31 pm

Stine chykee yes ur right bianca is there for him.

  9. nelson December 2, 2012 at 4:55 am

why did ojukwu keep quiet ever since sylvester was born untill his death before he would reject him as his son. there is something behind it.

  10. Stine Chykee December 2, 2012 at 4:56 am

I dont want anybody that will commenting on this forum that will condem the action of late Odumegwu Ojukwu for his Will or even blame Iyom Bianca for no just couse becouse i saw no mistakes in wat late Ojukwu did,so if anything dont like wat he did let the person sue Iyom Bianca to courte for it and as we have seen in the side that so called Sylvester it seems as if he has accepted the verdict oe the Will with no choice

  11. Usman December 2, 2012 at 5:11 am

I don’t believe Ojukwu wrote this, he did not even remember the less priviledge, MASSOB and even the entire Igbo nation. African Tradition should have been the best in terms of sharing ones property.

  12. ralph December 2, 2012 at 5:15 am

Mr udowelle go and sit down if your are my son the way you are talking you will be out of the will

  19. Ode December 2, 2012 at 6:51 am

Igbo kwenu !!! Ha! Ha!! Ha!!! I de laugh Oh……Igbo heroe has gone and left his family and entire Igbo race confused and disunited. How can a honourable man disown his first child and keep away such a sansitive information from people untill after his death.I consider such act as cowardice which has been the trademark of Ojukwu as demonstrated during d civil war when he ran away and left his people after starting a war.Igbo young men don’t. insult me, go and read history na true talk.

    • Anthony I Efobi December 2, 2012 at 8:18 am

Ode may God havd mercy on you for insulting yourself thinking your insulting our great leader late Ojukwu.Ode for your information Ojukwu it wasnt intention of Ojukwu to leave to Ivory Coast but it was his generals like Achuzie,Effiong and some prominent Igbos who persuaded him to leave becouse they know that if anything should happened to him Ojulwu then wat was the essence of fight, wen the Iroko trees falls the birds will flew to the bush thats wat happened Ode or watever your name is

  20. esquire December 2, 2012 at 6:55 am

@ stine chyke. Why do u always have d habit of attacking people’s opinion. U don’t make any meaningful contribution, but u keep attacking those with their right senses. U must be an idler. If i must say, d truth of Ojukwu’s Will will manifest in d nearest future, whether cooked or not bcos nothing hide under d sun.

    • Stine Chykee December 2, 2012 at 11:16 am

Esquire everybody in this forum knows me and the way i comments,i rather hit the neils on the head than to be bias and sentimental.Esquire if you recall i wasnt the only person who condemned your atitude of comment and infact i was not the first person thay corrected you,so Esquire try and me natural and mature wen commenting in such a sensitive issue

  21. man of peace December 2, 2012 at 6:57 am

@Avavome, ur entire lazy nation all put together cannot affore the wealth late Chief Louis philippe Ojukwu left behind. The first nigerian to make a million pounds. So don’t think that Ikemba will be a church rat like u. Ewu Edo

  22. Avavomeh December 2, 2012 at 7:03 am

How can a man who allowed his own people to bekilled for no reason groom a united family? Pls this man is now a forgotten story. You can see that APGA and his entire family are all in trouble. He is one of the achitect of Nigerian problem and quest for unity in this country.

    • Anthony I Efobi December 2, 2012 at 8:33 am

Igbo affair is too sweet for other non Igbos. They must talk even when they are dead. That’s what make us GREAT IGBO. All 250 Nigerian tribe beemed torch for us to see, walk and grow strongly. Igbo matter is very vital and of national interest. Well done Ode, Avavomeh and Co for trying to envy and there promoting Igbo.
Just for a single Igbo leader family affair, all Nigerian tribes are getting involve. An Igbo man is an object of attention and centre of attraction. God so kind.

      • Stine Chykee December 2, 2012 at 11:29 am

Anthony I Efobi you have indef read my mind for wat you just comment now.God bless you for this your wonderful insite and lecture you gave people like Ode,Avavome,Esquire etc becouse its obvious that Igbo are the greatest of nation to reckon with wen the national matters or issue or even a little issues arises.Other tribes in Nigeria always enjoy discursing the Igbo affairs wenever it arises and that shows how important my great Igbo tribe is and even after the dead of our great leader Ojukwu people still discursed him and argue about him.Igbo my great and ideal tribe please ride on

  23. Eaves dropper December 2, 2012 at 7:16 am

  28. Chief Akpaniko December 2, 2012 at 8:25 am

What is Love? What is 4givemess? Where does love or charity begins? Does a true leader desire these qualities especially dealing with his own family(sons) during and after death? Will 1percent love make a man to throw away his children? Has he bind his family in love like he wished for Igbo nation cum Nigeria? Can we trust an Igbo in leadership? Will this family ever unite based on Ikemba’s WILL? Is this a good precedence? A TREE IS ALWAYS KNOWN BY ITS FRUITS.

    • Chekwube December 3, 2012 at 4:14 pm

@Akpaniko-Shut up your stupid mouth and get a wife and children for your self before you can comment this sort of issue.

  29. oshodi December 2, 2012 at 8:27 am

    i dey laugh

  30. Chief Akpaniko December 2, 2012 at 8:44 am

This WILL is shamefully prepared if indeed Ikemba prepared it. What is his profit? Vanity!! Not even a kobo to charity at least to express restitution for the souls of those who died and left suffering children behind. Late Bank Anthony left a legacy for all to emulate. Igbos hide your heads in dust.

    • Stine Chykee December 2, 2012 at 12:02 pm

Chief Akpaniko its your entire Yoruba people will hide their head in the dust.Chief Akpaniko your comparing our late leader Ojukwu becouse he didnt Will some of his properties to Igbos and even MASSOB and who tells you that we Igbos are lazy like you Yorubas and always depends in the Igbos wealth and FG to enrich their pockets and your even bringing mouth to Ojukwu wat about your so called den god Awolowo did he even left any paper talkelss of Will to his families or even Yorubas as you emphazised on our great leader Ojukwu. Why is it that you Yorubas cant mind your business in any Igbo affairs and bury your heads in shame

      • Godwin December 2, 2012 at 9:24 pm

stine chykee you are fond of attacking and abusing people for expressing their opinion once it goes contrary to your own opinion. that is uncivilised

  31. david December 2, 2012 at 8:53 am

must a man consult the whole wide world to write his will?ojukwu has done what is best for him so that can never be a problem to any outsider…his children are lucky sef that there father has a property to write will ..what of people whom there father does not have even a house were each person can even get a room to leave?does it mean that if such man dies so he will not be buried?please let us talk something different and leave this ojukwu will for his people to settle abeg…what did my late father left for us when he died?

  32. Iba O December 2, 2012 at 9:22 am

I am not surprise that Late Ikemba wrote this Will and disown his first son because, Ikemba is a great man and great men are found of surprises. However, in my opinion, I commend Ikemba and his decision as expressed in that Will. May be, Late Ikemba believe he had given enough to his first son. We are no more in era of first son claiming all the inheritance and asking the junior ones to go to hell or squander the wealth. Late Ikemba wrote the will with sympathy for Bianca’s children who need care and protection which the first son failed to convince his father that he is capable of protecting the empire after his father’s demise. That is no down that Sylvester tearing the Will shows that he is not mature enough as observed by Late Ikemba, it is also a sign that he had relied so much waiting for his father to die and inherit his property. The Will as expressed by Late Ikemba should be enforced by all members of the family. Sylvester who had chance to collect anything from his father while alive due to his being born early has taken enough, therefore, the younger one should be protected. This serves as a lesson to people relying on legacy. Sylvester should be man enough. In fact, if he is good enough and made his father proud while alive, he suppose to inherit Bianca, but it may be opposite hence he is showing disappointment publicly. Lazy type should always be dissappointed.

    • Stine Chykee December 2, 2012 at 12:07 pm

Iba O God bless you for this your unbiased comment and i look forward to read more comments without sentiment like yours Iba O

    • kenedy December 2, 2012 at 3:15 pm

@ Iba O, i gree with for what you just said and i also look at it from that perspective but you missed something, Sylvester is ojukwu first son but he did not include his name in the will at all but he due recognise emeka ojukwu jnr as first son. as for me am not against ojukwu willed the lion share to bianca because to write a will you need to consider variety of issues, for the fact that bianca children are still kids, they need to go to sch, care and protection and as children they will misssed their father more than other but other ojukwu children have grown make money for their own set up their own businesses and family and if you look at it the other angle you will also know that during the time of ojukwu illness is bianca and her kids suffer most than other that’s all the things one consider when writing a will but also for what ever reason as far as he didn’t denied sylverster when he is alive i don’t support him denying sylverster in his will, even if he did not willed anything to sylvester he would have put sylvester name as one of his children i feel very sorry for him, is painful just put your self in his shoe, if your the one. even if he did not will anything to sylvester, sylvester i know him in person he is a good man he is very rich already but i don’t support ojukwu denying him.

      • Chekwube December 2, 2012 at 8:03 pm

@Kennedy-Ikemba(RIP) must have his reasons for his actions.

  33. Curious December 2, 2012 at 10:29 am

Waiting for inheritance is the ambition of a lazy man.

Y wud sun publish dis will isue repeatedly n mek it headlines?

Y can’t we mind our businez n leav som1’s famly alone?
Y must pple engage in a war of words/abuses bcoz a single nigerian did wat he wished wit his wealth?
Wat do u or nigeria gain by ur aida suporting or not suporting ojukwu’s will?

  36. my humble self December 2, 2012 at 2:22 pm

This Stine Chykee and his manner of condemning or commending posts. It seems u have a personal stake in this will oh, or how do i explain all these efforts of urs to shut up people who hold views different from urs.
Well on the will, it is a private affairs for the Ojukwus and should not be making headlines when we have more important issues of national discourse to attend to.
As Rudolf is wont to say, correct me if i am right.

  37. Kmany2020 December 2, 2012 at 3:10 pm

If u are not an igbo man pls don’t comment. just say hi to d late Ojukwu who stile lives and walk away.

  38. Goodwill Oleka December 2, 2012 at 3:25 pm

Biance doctored the will and included this name Teni Hamman to create distraction, life is only but one day, Sylvester is rich and has nothing to lose in this kind of event, but that remains late Ikemba and his family problem.

  39. Belema December 2, 2012 at 3:39 pm

Being a firstborn does not equate to being first in a will. Remember the sons of Jacob? Reuben was firstborn but lost his right to being first when he defiled his father’s couch. The difference is that Jacob was man enough to read his will when he was alive but now we put it in a paper for people to challenge later..

  40. okey onuoha December 2, 2012 at 3:44 pm

Where are the Elders of NNewii??. Ojukwu’s name smells Igboness. If Ikemba had given all his chidren education, he has done enough for them. Dancing necked in the public and pages of news papers over property shoul stop.

  41. Chekwube December 2, 2012 at 4:42 pm

Whatever you write here, note that Ojukwu was a great man, unique, hard men does things with reasons best known to them,if the will was proven to be authentic then that’s it,let whoever was excluded use his tongue to count his teeths, the children should be careful not to diminish the name of a great son of Igboland in the pages of newspapers, enemies are following the issue and might use it to destroy a hard earned position.Great men are born not made, inheritance is not the only means for survival unless you are a lazy man,Ojukwu’s name can open doors.Murukwanu anya!

  42. Iyke December 2, 2012 at 5:14 pm

I always believe one is entitled to one’s opinion…and at such, opinions are personal and should be respected. Y rain insult on someone dat made his opinion?? Just drop urs witout insulting d oda. Anyway, na d SUN news bring us 2gether, if not some frustrated and unemployed persons here won’t insult odas who can feed and clothe them in real life. Now, dis is my opinion, even though dis matter concerns d Ojukwu’s, we are still free to say our mind. Ojukwu’s unforgiven heart and disowning his own blood MIGHT land him in HELL FIRE. Unforgiveness has sent BILLIONS to HELL FIRE. This is no joke!!!! Insult rainers, oya take d centre stage and insult urselves…hahahhahahahaha!!!! I dey yaff ooooo!!!! Hahahahahaa!!!!!

  43. Aguihe December 2, 2012 at 5:22 pm

Bianca dissevers what she got from her husbands will, if every beautiful woman like Bianca can stay and take care of her husband till death just as Bianca did , the world will be a very interesting and better place to be .
Bianca God will continue to protect and lift you more higher as you have made us proud

  44. TONY IDO December 2, 2012 at 6:13 pm

What i know since i was born. Is that Ojukwu love bianca so much that he name the eantire IGBO NATION after her. BIAFRA/BIANCA. And pls sylvester ojukwu don’t bother ur self about the first son/will problem. Because our I G OF POLICE IS NOT ANSWERING THE NAME OF HIS FATHER. And still that does not stop him to became a great man

  45. Uyome December 2, 2012 at 6:22 pm

Ndi’igbo, we are known to be hard-working. The whole idea of looking onto your parental properties is extremely wrong idea. It does not make any sense. grieved children should go and struggle and make their own properties instead of depending on your parents struggle and sweat.

  46. Anthony December 2, 2012 at 6:24 pm

I think there are other families in the world who have more than Ojukwa and still shared peacefuly, please take thise mater home and setle it you are a big family perharps the first igbo family so please do not fight with whot you know you can get afterall Dangote never had a rich family ike yours but he is the richest in Africa so you can do beter whit whot you have show love to oneanother

Ojukwu will, Ojukwu will, what will are you leaving for your own children ?

  49. Obinna u. December 2, 2012 at 8:00 pm

No one should even comment, because we don’t know anything about their family affairs.

  50. Abdullahi Usman December 2, 2012 at 8:17 pm

No body has mentioned the sharing formular of a will in accordance with the doctrine of christianity. Is it silent ?

well, sylvester is d richest among dem alredy…….. But d pain is dat, he will miss having ”somthing of value” from his father which tastes great even if it is only a ”pin”… I could unserstand him……. But everybody hia should remember ‘Ismael’ d first son of abraham tru hagar d slave girl. She misused her priviledge to stay humble wen she was pregnant for Abraham when Sarah was childless… Later she was sent away while d chilld -‘Ishael’ was denied d first son… Later Sarah gave birth to Isaac who became d first son – a patriach thru wich Israel (Jacob) issued out(although it was divine)…… Who/where is sylvester’s moda? Ojukwu may be up for a giant reason… Pals, i urge u to read ur Bible accounts of Abraham and Sarah/Hagar(slavegirl)….. Wateva d case, Respect Ojukwu’s will pls.

Honestly, it is very difficulty to comment on this matter without first obtaining answers to the following questions: Is there any known irreconciliable differences between the late Ikemba and Sylvester? How cordial was their relationship? etc etc etc.

This questions are necessary because it is like faulting President Obasanjo for not acknowledging Gbenga in his will when he dies.

Please, let those close to the family enlighten us in order to justify the Ikemba’s action or otherwise.

Ikemba is among the greatest heroes that ever trode this earth.

If truly he was a good leader as purported, how come his family is in such disaray after his death.I think he mised out something somewhere thereby making his family affairs to atrack negative comments on the pages of newspapers. This ought not to be so and is a lesson to us all.

  55. mishael December 2, 2012 at 9:23 pm

Pls for those who have patience, Kindly read up Genesis chapter 16 & chapter 21…. Also Galatians 4:21-26………. Hav u read it?………… I kept asking myself….. Who and where is Debe’s mother? What kind of person was she? Debe though is now great like d ”archer”, but, what does d future hold for him? Ojukwu may be up for a ”GIANT” reason…….. We just still have to respect it(d will)……. Ojukwu was a ”MAN” of foresighted wisdom indeed.

  56. Micheal December 2, 2012 at 11:32 pm

If anybody thought that Ikemba has done Wrong or well , What have you learned. From this matter Then check your own family.

  57. obyno December 2, 2012 at 11:44 pm

Many of us who have commented on this issue are guilty of “argumentum ad hominem”. u do not attack or abuse people when they air their view rather u criticize what they say, but it is very appalling that we are abusing ourselves here in the name of commenting.

There is no indication that Sylvester was disowned in the Will. One thing is clear,Ojukwu did not follow strict igbo traditions of leaving estates to only male survivors. To this i aplaud the great man because igbo culture discriminates against female children. If brother Sylvester Ojukwu is worth 3billion,then he has no need for a handout. And i think this explains why he didn’t get much from the estate.

Ikemba of Inewei the war lord has never do the right thin at the right time.

1 During the civil war he discreetly concealed the aim of the civil war to the south-south which led to the failure of the biafra.

2 A daughter he have from the northern part of the country was discreetly concealed from his wife until his last day.

3 His controversal will that thrown his family members apart.
May his soul rest in the bosom of the innocent citizen that died in the cause of the civil war.

its awo and gowon fault i guess. igbo kwenu. bunch of fuckups. its everybody`s fault but theirs. Now sentiments will not allow them to call a spade what it is. the gin-drinking-red-eyed-peadophile warlord has messed up in this will preparation and the ibos dont want any one to provide a differing opinion. za ku chi uwarku kwanan nan
