Ondo PDP berates national leaders for congratulating Mimiko

From TUNDE RAHEEM, Akure

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State yesterday berated some of its national leaders for congratulating Governor Olusegun Mimiko over his re-election victory.

The PDP said it took serious exception to the obvious lack of camaraderie in the attitudes of the national leaders of party and the indecent haste of certain functionaries to fall on each other in congratulating Governor Mimiko. In a press statement signed by the state Director of Media and Publicity of the party,

Ayo Fadaka, he described the attitude of the national leaders as not only being ridiculous but undermining the integrity of the party in the state. “Our attention has been drawn to various comments and congratulatory messages sent by the National Publicity Secretary of the party and even some leaders of the party to Dr. Olusegun Mimiko over his victory in the last election that is fraught with irregularities.

This flurry of messages, particularly by our kith and kin in the PDP without due consultation with us at the state level to discover what actually went wrong has the potent tendency to misconstrue our position and the actions we intend to take on this matter. “We take serious exception to the obvious lack of camaraderie in our party and the indecent haste of certain functionaries to fall on each other in congratulating a man who essentially is a beneficiary of a compromised election.

It is important to place on record that the avalanche of the security provided for the election was lethargic and absolutely in contrast to what obtained in Edo State. The posted security men were only visible and present in the urban areas and the rural areas and villages unpoliced, thereby allowing Mimiko and his goons to compromise the election.

“We are still gathering evidences of malpractices perpetrated in this election and what we have gathered so far will shock every apostle of one-man-one-vote to their marrows, therefore we declare most irrevocably that we will contest the result of this election and we assure our people, we will get victory and Mimiko will leave government the same way he came.

“As far as the PDP in Ondo State is concerned, the battle is just beginning and victory is certain, let whoever so desire continue to congratulate Mimiko but we will battle him legally. We call on our members to remain undaunted in the face of this abandonment by those who ordinarily should show understanding and care at a time like this.”

The action of the Ondo chapter of PDP is uncalled for. If the chapter is aggrieved, let it contest it @ the law court. The message of her national leaders cannot in anyway influence the decision of the court if there is evidence of malpractice as alleged.
This is democracy in action and all the opportunities should be utilised effectively and wisely.
Congratulation INEC for another credible election. Congratulation Mimiko.

In fact, the national leaders of the PDP that congratulated the incubent Governor are only doing that on their own. The election was full of malpractices most especially in the rural areas of Ondo State. For instance in Owo two ppl were killed by the L P thugs and no body council the election. In Ese odo and Ilaje where Olusola Oke comes from , there was no Inec official to conduct Election for them. They waited til the expireed time and went back home. I think the PDP should challenge the results and definitely they will win.

Bros Ayo, it is normal all over the world that failure or defeat is always painful, but ability to absorb it and move on realistically with life is the ultimate. I think some marabouts and fake seers may have advised you to go to court assuring you that you will retrieve the God’s own mandate. Remember that these same people told you that your party would win the election hands down, only for them to ask you to go to court after u lost the election. You need to know that this is God’s own mandate and nobody can retrieve God’s mandate, this one is different from the stolen mandate of 2007 which God retrieved back to the present occupant-rightful owner. Most of the people who reside in this state knew ab initio that Mimiko would win the election, and so it was. I advise that u jettison bad losers syndrome, which is the bane of democracy, and embrace good sportsmanship spirit, support Mimiko to develop the state, if u so love the state as professed.

My conviction is that these smaller political parties have candidates who can do many good things for the electorate. The so called big party is more interested in sharing money and keeping many God fathers happy. They should leave the Governor alone. A party that has no answer to Boko Haram.

Honestly am happy with the reaction of ondo pdp,the national body of ur so called pdp acted foolishly, but am not surprise because some of them were not happy with oke on how he handled Anambra north senatorial case, where oke stood by the truth that is okadigbo’s wife as the actual candidate of pdp.pdp national publicity secretary just paid oke back by his unguarded utterance, all i know, oke is the best candidate because i watched their debate on AIT live & believe me ondo state missed their chance of change

oke maybe the best candidate for based on your judgement of their debate you watched on AIT.How many Ondo voters watched the said debate? And did NWC members and President Jonathan vote during the Ondo guber election? President Jonathan is trying to give us what we never had before; Party internal democracy, free and fair election, and the spirit of sportsmanship in politics.

if their is any malpractices during the election in the remote district of the state let it be reveal so that inec will know how to plan better. What is worrisome is the heavy security and many inec commissioners for a state election what of if it is national election barrack will be empty as if we are in war front.Nigerians will always carried away with little things.I support that they should go to court if they feel cheated.that is how agagu was congratulated from nook and cranny of the state and the nation in general until tribunal put inec wrong.

Does it mean that PDP is divided? That they don’t speak with one voice? How can national body congratulated a man that won an election and the state body is angry about it. They are passing information to the public. Opposition should put on sportsman spirit, he that looses lives to fight for another time.

Am 4rm Abia state, d last time I was in Ondo state, after I left 8yrs b4, I think mimiko is really working & deserves a 2nd term. But all d same, if OKE feels cheated & that d elections was not genuinely conducted, he should state his points, evidence & defend his claims. But d party National leaders if at all they congratulated mimiko without consulting d state level. But all the same, OKE should support Mimiko in his governorship nd let them move the state foward, because both persons are worthy candidates. Congratulations 2 Mimiko, u landslide Victory is well Deserved & an opportunity 2 do greater works in Ondo state. Congratulations.

Ayo Fadaka, the next thing that would happen to you is to find your good self fired from the PDP. Watch out! The national PDP leaders have a right to congratulate whoever they wished. Fadaka, recall that President Jonathan empowered his military chief to order the army to shoot at sight any troublemakers during the election. This was a cryptic tactic of scaring away voters to possibly make way for the PDP candidate but this did not happen! Fadaka, it is time you came out of the age-old idea that whenever your opponent wins then such a person rigged, but if you win, then there is no rigging! Must you or your party always be the winner? Come on, accept defeat and congratulate your winner opponent.

Mr Ayo Fadaka, stop chasing shadow. Go and expend your energy in something much more worthwhile and fruitful. You and your party in Ondo cannot force yourself on us. The electorates have spoken. QED end of story.

Ayo Fadaka, your act is an insubordination and you are not fit to continue holding any office in PDP at any level. So therefore, you better resign and pursue your emotions in court of law.But let me quickly refresh your memory that your candidate was arrested for electoral law violation and one of your agents was arrested with 1million naira meant to negatively influence voters and the election result in your candidate’s favour.I advise you and your candidate to retrieve this publication and congratulate Gov Mimiko. Adoke and PDP has big opportunity in Ondo state come 2016.

All the overtures and congratulation been showered by national PDP is not for anything but to bring Mimiko back home to PDP and for Jonathan to have strong alliance in south west in 2013.
