OML, our stand – NUPENG

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and National Gas Workers NUPENG said it did not fault the controversial choice of Heritage oil in the OML 30. In a rejoinder to a story in Daily Sun signed by the Acting General Secretary of the Union, Mr. Isaac Abarare, the Union said that the reporter quoted them out of context.

According to Abarare, in the story published on the Daily Sun of January 15, 2013 with headline “Controversial OML 30: NUPENG, stakeholders, fault choice of Heritage Oil, the reporter inputted words in his mouth. He explained that the Union knew nothing about the antecedent of Heritage Oil or that it was the preferred bidder, stressing that the reporter merely exaggerated what he told him in the short telephone interview he had with him. “To be precise, I told him that I knew nothing about the deal but since he said, it was not transparent, we in the union, condemn such, as we believe in due process.”

Abarare said the reporter did not furnish him with enough information on what he was writing about, only to use a bold headline that NUPENG faulted the choice of Heritage oil.”
