North East may pull out of Nigeria –Wazirin Bauchi

From PAUL ORUDE, Bauchi

Former Minister of Establishment and central committee Chairman, North East Forum for Unity and Development (NEFUD) Alhaji Bello Kirfi (Wazirin Bauchi) has threatened that the region would pull out of Nigeria and take their destiny in their hands if the need arose.

Kirfi stated this yesterday in Bauchi during the inauguration of its action committee at the indoor sports Hall Multipurpose Bauchi saying that history would not forgive the region if it allowed their labour to go down the drain. But in reaction to Kirfi, former minister of Defence, General Theophilus Danjuma said it was not only a serious but ambiguous and weighty statement to make.

He added: “As someone who went to the war front and survived it, I must warn that this statement be withdraw immediately.” Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Adamu Ciroma later mounted the podium and announced that the statement had been withdrawn, a move that elicited applause from dignitaries present. And subsequently in compliance, Kirfi swiftly announced the withdrawal of the statement but stressed that it was for the meantime. The planned inauguration of the Action Committees of NEFUD could not hold as six governors of the region boycotted the meeting. General Danjuma explained that the governors’ absence was as a result of their suspicion that the meeting had political undertone rather than to genuinely address the problems bedeviling the sub- region.

“Initially, I was told that all the six governors of the region will attend the inauguration but three days ago, one of them called me and told me that all of them have resolved not to come and even advised me to stay away that there’s a hidden agenda”, he said. He said that based on the advice, he went back to read the minutes of the meetings held by the Forum including the draft speech adding: “I am not in a position to pass judgment but this development has created doubt in my mind regarding the motive of the forum.

I therefore suggest that this meeting should be adjourned immediately and be reconvened later at a later date when we would have been able to persuade the governors to join us in this noble undertaking.” The meeting which was held at the Multi-Purpose Indoor Sports Hall, Bauchi, attracted prominent elders and politicians from the region including Adamu Ciroma, Yayale Ahmed, Professor Jibril Aminu, Nuhu Ribadu, Professor Ango Abdullahi,

Adamu Maina Waiziri, Gen Timothy Shelpidi, three ministers of Abuja, Bunu Sherif, Aliyu B,Modibbo. Others include General Yakubu Usman, Deputy Senate Leader, Abdul Ningi, Senator Aisha Alhassan, former minister of Women Affairs, Inna Ciroma, Emir of Fika, former Education Minister, Alhaji Dauda Brima, among other prominent North- East leaders.

It will be recalled that the meeting was first held on June 13, with the name North East Forum of Concerned Leaders which was later changed to North East Forum for Unity and Development (NEFUD). The forum was worried about the current insecurity and economic underdevelopment of the region and   blamed it  on marginalisation, corruption  among others.

When we are talking about Elder statemen, I think Gen Danjuma should be counted as one of them. Although, we all have our short comings, since we are all mortal bodies, it is bound to happens .so, our so called elders should mind the they present their cases in the public so that it will incite people’s provocation. Thanks for people like Gen Danjuma and Alhaji Adamu ciroma who quickly corrected the unguided statement made by that man.

There is nothing in some one asking for independence,

1.Last time southern sudan gain indipendence from republic of sudan.
    2. In no distance time, Catlona will gain indipendence from spaIN.
    3. Last two weeks, muslem distic gain independence from indonesia.etc etc. so if they seek for indipendence from nigeria, they are welcomed.

Quick, Quick break away from Nigeria and form your Islamic republic of Taliban, where primitive sharia law would be your only constitution. Ask yourselves what have you contributed to the Nigerian nation since 1960. Can you even sustain your proposed nation without oil and ports from the south? Please go ahead and make my day by committing economic suicide.

THEY ARE FREE TO GO, NOT THEM ALONE BUT THE ENTIRE NORTH SHOULD SECEDE BECAUSE THEY ARE A CAUSE TO NIGERIA. THAT IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR . NOBODY WILL EVEN GO AFTER THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT NEEDED FOR ANYTHING.

You guys are funny (Dele n Onu). Let them go ahead and chase shadows and poticizing Boko Haram. When the dust settles, that region would have been dragged 20 years backward – economically, educationally and otherwise. Then they can consider the ‘best option’ of pulling out

What contribution has the North-East made to the development of this country? Rather they succeeded in producing the blood sucking monster called Boko-Haram. The earlier they go the better. I have been wondering how I have been a fellow citizen with these kind of people that have no value for human life.

I beg let them go good riddance. By what sacred criteria do people say that nigerias unity is indivisible when the people that mouth this are the ones that do things that will fragment the country. Of course Danjuma will not want Nigeria to break after all oil block no dey Taraba when dem go give am. Na south south oil block and fine daisy-like sisy dey and if Nigeria break he no go get ready access

nobody should hold North-east from secession if they are to pay for the pains and shame they have caused our country Nigeria, then Nigeria relieved of future groans and grief.

Is quite certain that division of Nigeria even without tempering the boundaries…but the northwest also has the right to criticise national issues that seems to be unfavourable. The federal govt ar jst ridiculing us as boko haram…if we cannot secure any protection from the government, is a high time that we form a government of our own.

  39. Muhammad October 15, 2012 at 2:14 pm - Reply

This is very commendable and welcome development. Nigeria must and should divide. Check out this website I am sure the North is working on this division: arewaliberationgroup.org. The forces of keeping Nigeria are no longer wanted in the North, the likes of IBB, Danjuma, etc brought nothing good, so keeping Nigeria one is like keeping it for their own good only not for good of the common people and citizens of Arewa Republic.

Theophilus Danjuma Is One Of The Devil That Destroyed That Country Called Nigeria But I Keep On Telling Nigeria People That The Best Thing That Will Happen To That Country Is To Divide It At Least Into Three, Ariwa Republic, Oduduwa Republic And Biafra Republic For Peace To Reign. The Civil War With Nigeria And Biafra Is Worst Thing That Have Ever happen To That Country Because Nigeria Would Have Leave Biafra To Go But As They Are Trying To Go Now, They Should Go And Let Oduduwa Go Their Own Way Too And Let North Remain In Nigeria
