The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned Dora Gilmaska, a Polish woman, before an Abuja High Court presided by Justice Abubakar Umar, on a one count charge of fraud.
Gilmaska, the Executive Officer of Icon Media and Marketing Agency Limited, is being prosecuted for issuing dud a cheque of N9 million to one Tayo Olugbemi.
When arraigned, the accused pleaded not guilty to the offence, prompting her counsel, Chris Okoye, to file an application urging the court to admit his client to bail, pending the determination of the case.
But prosecution counsel, Samuel Ugwuegbulam, opposed the application for bail on the grounds that the accused had earlier jumped administrative bail.
In his ruling, Justice Umar granted the accused bail in the sum of N5 million and two sureties in like sum.
He also said that one of the sureties must be a civil servant resident in the Federal Capital Territory.
The accused is also to deposit her international passport with the court registrar.
While adjourning the case to November 15, 2012 for commencement of trial, the judge ordered that the accused be remanded in EFCC custody, pending when she is able to meet the bail conditions.

Hold this woman well. This Polish people are even worst than Nigerians. They think they can get away with anything in Nigerian.
The blind goddess of Justice does not recognise anybody. It is not only colour blind; it is actually blind but uses a scale to measure good and evil deeds.
I can only call on EFCC to be like the blind goddess. They should not shield their brothers and expose others who are not. Dud cheque related matters are rife in our society but how has EFCC faired with them.
I think EFCC should sit down and think. How sincere are they? Selective prosecution is now their stock in trade.
