More than 1,000 Igbo youths who were members of Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) have deserted the association and joined the Association of Igbo Youths (AIYO).
A statement signed by the AIYO Director of Publicity, Comrade Charles Chikelu, attributed the development to the attitude of MASSOB leadership to the plight of several youths who have suffered and even lost their lives in course of working in MASSOB.
He noted with dismay that several youths who were operating on the platform of MASSOB were presently languishing in various prisons without trail, while several others who lost their lives in course of carrying out MASSOB functions remain in several mortuaries and abandoned by MASSOB leadership.
Is MASSOP still alive? This group of Igbos are pure cowards. Either they are lost in their way or completely ignorant of their initial mission. I thought they wanted to actualize the sovereign state Biafra? What a gift do they want it to be when asked to go by the same North that fought against Biafra in the 1960s. What stops Mr. Uwazurike from declaring the Biafra, especially now that it looks like the North is in favor of the idea? I am completely in support of Biafra. The snag however is that the present day Biafra is likely to have a smaller goegraphic area than originally intended with the exclusion of Akwa Ibom and Cross River states. But with Rivers and Bayelsa states, Biafra gears up to be a very rich nation.

For Igbo nation to stand up for the injustices being meted out to it by the Nigerian community, it is the sole duty of all Igbos to render a selfless service to the nation of Igbo. It is not enough for us as a people to always blame the North, the South West or South South for our problems. It is time for us to tell ourselves the truth and nothing but the truth, we must examine our minds and souls and abandon all selfish desires that has kept us backwards since the creation of the Nigerian state. The situation whereby today you have OHANEZE and tomorrow there is a division and another group is formed to challenge the position of OHANEZE or today you have MASSOB and tomorrow you have AIYO challenging the authority of MASSOB, all because of selfishness and unhealthy power play among the people of Ndigbo will only portray us as very unserious people before the Nigerian nation and the exact situation of “Onye Ulo ya na agba Oku ya na achu Oke” The Bible says that a house divided against itself cannot stand, how could we present a formidable force when our minds are made up that if it is not me no one else could represent the Igbo nation, when we are not ready to yield ground for the general good of the Igbo race, this simply where the problem lies especially we are ready to sell our birth right because of selfish reasons.
Just look at Lagos State today, It is the Igbos that made it what it is, all the whole buildings, market and industries are owned by the Igbo nation and yet the Lagos state government does not have any form of respect for us, we are being treated like dregs and inconsequential’s just because we are not united as a people. No leader in Igbo land has asked what is it that kept the Igbos in Lagos and then find a lasting solution to that problem and thereby creating an enabling environment for the people of Igbo to come back to their own nation.
However, I have an Idea what kept most of Igbo business men in Lagos, In Igbo land there is no sea port and no airport and this is a contributing factor to what made most our traders prefer staying in Lagos where there is both sea and airport and including land boarders to bring in foreign goods and transporting these goods after importation becomes another stumbling block to our traders so they are left with no other choice than to sell their goods in Lagos. Our problem now is not how much but how well we are utilizing our meager resources, we must not wait until the Federal government of Nigeria does something for us, we can do something for ourselves as a people knowing it is for our own good, If and only If the Igbo nation can come together as people we can build the best airport in the world thereby making it possible for people to import goods directly to Igbo land, we can dredge the Oguta lake and river niger without waiting for Federal government, this is what will bring our people home and not just asking them to come home and when they are back it will be easy for them to give back to the Igbo nation. Dubai that is a tourist destination of the world is just a state in the United Arab Emirate and yet it has the tallest building, the best hotels, shopping malls and the best airline and airport, we can do better.
