Jonathan is incompetent, ACN insists

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) has described incompetence, cluelessness and inconsistency as the hallmark of the Jonathan administration, contrary to the futile attempt by presidential aide, Doyin Okupe to pull the wool over the eyes of Nigerians through a pedestrian play on semantics. In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party also slammed Okupe for seeking to blame the opposition for the failure of the Jonathan administration to make a positive impact on the lives of Nigerians, saying the likes of Okupe, rather than the opposition, had contributed in no small measure to the administration’s low esteem in the eyes of Nigerians.

“There is no point rummaging through the dictionary to define incompetence, as Okupe has done in his rambling statement. All one needs to do to understand the meaning of incompetence is to look at the waffling Jonathan administration. “Touting President Goodluck Jonathan’s impressive academic qualifications is also very cheap, as they have not proven to be an asset in the way and manner the President has steered the affairs of his administration, especially his articulation of his government’s policies and the projection of its ability. In any case, while a doctorate degree in any field is something to be celebrated, it is not a pre-requisite for being a good leader,” it said.

ACN said the incompetence and cluelessness of the Jonathan administration had resulted in the country being bogged down by monumental corruption, unprecedented level of insecurity, policy flip-flops, absence of governance and downright lies that had estranged the citizens and erased their trust in government. “No administration in our recent history has been more a hotbed of corruption than the Jonathan administration, whether it is the fuel subsidy scam or the police pension scam, just to mention two. Even when a feeble attempt is made to prosecute those behind the scams, the majesty of the law is rubbished by incompetent prosecution that ensures that convicted persons get only a slap on the wrist. Under the Jonathan administration, the more money you steal, the less punishment you receive.

“Profligacy has also been the order of the day. If this government is not building a N2.2 billion banquet hall, it is spending N4 billion on the office building of the African First Ladies Peace Mission. The funds being wasted on these white elephant projects would have been better spent on creating jobs for our youths, millions of whom are roaming the streets daily in search of what to do to make ends meet,” the party said. On the road contracts awarded by the Jonathan administration, it said the joke was on Okupe, who, in saner climes, could not be speaking for any government that was worth its salt.

“There is nothing new about awarding contracts for road rehabilitation. What the public expects from Okupe is how many of the roads have been completed or are nearing completion?” ACN queried. The contracts for most of the roads, which Okupe listed in his statement have been awarded severally by previous PDP regimes, with nothing to show. Even Okupe has collected huge funds for road contracts that he later abandoned. How then can such contracts be celebrated, when all they do is put money in the pockets of party cronies?

How can such a man like Okupe speak for any serious government, when he should have been dutifully prosecuted? Little wonder the citizens have no trust in the Jonathan Administration?” ACN queried. The party said one area in which the Jonathan Administration’s incompetence was most glaring was the provision of security. While a security crisis of the scale perpetrated by Boko Haram might be unprecedented in our country, equally unfathomable was the government’s inability to rise to the occasion, to such an extent that even the President admitted that his administration had been infiltrated by Boko Haram members.

“Of course, there is also unprecedented cases of kidnapping and armed robbery, all of which have overwhelmed the clueless government. “Overall, a government that lies to its citizens by either saying it had been hailed for its anti-corruption effort by Transparency International when that is not the case, or giving an exaggerated amount of electricity that has been generated cannot get much respect from the people. “A government that sends conflicting signals to foreign investors, in particular over whether or not the power contract awarded to Canadian firm, Manitoba has been cancelled, cannot and should not be trusted.

“The Jonathan Administration should address the issue of trust, chase away those among its officials who lack credibility because of their past deeds and begin to take governance very seriously. Then and only then, will it not have to worry about what label an imaginary opposition is putting on the government,” ACN said.

My friend allow GEJ to rest, you have criticised him much higher than any other ACN member. Can you be more competent than GEJ if such power(s) were conferred on you? If not Fashola of Lagos state, name that ACN governor that is performing? Is it the one that toke five local goats to Nigeria court ? The introduction of occultic religion to younger initiates took off yesterday in Osun school corriculum against all odds, are they the ones that are competent? Your constant criticism on GEJ makes him more popular don,t you know?

Owerri, Pls do us a favour and shut up at times. you must not comment on all issues. Your criticisms are always annoying, destructive, unreasonable and immatured. Oshiomole is doing well, Amosun is gradually picking up. PDP can never be compared to ACN cos ACN has proven to be a party with a manifesto as you Expect to see similar activities going on in all ACN- governed states.

Leave ACN and and their talkativeness. A political party that lacks internal democray. A political party that think that nigerians are fools. A political party that has no campaign manifesto. A political party that believes in argumentum ad hominum. I will never forget their campaign manifesto at 2012 ondo state governorship election where they were insulting their opponents rather than telling electorates their plans why they should be voted for. In their words of arrogance they said “mimikko is an ingrate, i spent millions of dollars on mimikko”. what an arrogant political party.

Just as Keshi has proved his critics wrong, so shall GEJ . Even if power will shift to another political party not ACN. The party is too arrogant ! They insult their opponents. Look at what happened in akwaibom in 2011 election, doing campaign on political sentiment just because the ACN Candidate was from majority tribe while PDP was from minority.even when NDA nominated the gov. Of the state for award of an outstanding performance, ACN was against it as if NDA is political party. LABOUR PARTY ! For life. MIMIkko ! The iroko stands firm !

ACN has taken the buisness of criticizing and insulting Jonathan as a duty as if their elected AcN governors are any better.
Every negative percpective that any Nigerian has about the present administration is being generated by the acn and it’s croonies for a government that is not even up to 2and half years in office while they gave OBJ a breathing space in his time (to loot and destroy the country).
If acn plus their merger companions ever gets power(which is their ultimate goal),the only difference we will see is that the players changed but the game will continue to be played the same way.

    • Mr Nwosu February 6, 2013 at 5:44 am - Reply

Leave them. They think that nigerians are fools that we don’t know their pranks. The more they talk the more they annoy the electorates.

  9. Bomaye February 6, 2013 at 5:43 am - Reply

The ACN is typical of a Yoruba man. A yoruba man is naturally a talkative and insultive and that is exactly what u will notice in the acn if you have observed them closely.
In any forum or debate or arguement where a ACN chiefitian is requested to defend his party manifesto or merger plans or campgain for a election etc, he will leave the topic and start raining abuse, criticizim and insult on the president or the ruling party.
This behaviour alone has made me loose my respect for them and whatever course they say they represent.

Ihatenigeria, it is disheartening to use words like stupid and idiot to address the president of your country, wether you like it or not Jonathan remains your president, you can’t change that. I regards anybody who comments on political issues as a parliamentarian. So, if you are a good parliamentarian you should make your criticism very constructive.
I want to let you know that Jonathan is not your problem, your problem is the false document given to Nigeria as costitution, which Jonathan has power to change.

These ACN bigots should not deceive Nigerians. Many people have witnessed how ACN big shots distributing Ghana must go bags. Also, open the spotlight on some of the ACN governors who throw money at area boys to seek their votes rather than provide any tangible development. They can never deceive Nigerians this time around through the media. We have learnt our lesson over the years. Does this archaic Alhaji think Asiwaju of corruption & area boys aka baba lawo can do any better? We will never go back to dark times by the grace of the almighty. You can not get power by talking down on GEJ. Nigerians are not fools. We know who is who. The best thing to do is to suggest ways of solveing these daunting tasks faceing these administration. GEJ administration inherented most these problems, he has been solveing them in a learned man and God-fearing manner. The boko haram is calling for cease fire, what brought about it? It is so because ‘pikin wey say him mama no go sleep he himself no go sleep abi? Our security men matched them fire for fire and the boko haram are now calling for cease fire. Kudos for GEJ. There is improvement on electricity supply and so on… Better days are ahead. Pls stop insulting our presido.. Cos you are indirectly insulting God.

I dn’t like commenting on issues like this b/cos its aways full of critism and insult, atimes i wonder if these pple are primitive pple. It baffled me why some nigerians choose to insult the president of their country. Is it b/cos he is not 4rm their tribe? Or is it b/cos of political party? This tells the whole world the kind of pple we are. (i mean how currupt we are) yet we’re talking about curruption, while we are the most currupt pple on earth. Jonathan is not the first nigerian president, but curruption was still there b/4 he came. Even those that brought these currupt example are not ashame to talk about it. What i knw jonathan will not govern this nation 4ever. I personally, don’t like curruption, but THINK b/4 you write or speak. Don’t be a laughing stock to the world. Mark this day!
